Calm waves and lots of area to lounge. There isn't much snorkeling to do, but I enjoyed relaxing in the waves. Great beach!

La Chiva is an awesome spot for snorkeling, sun and some exploring. Great marine life sea turtes, sting rays, conch, and other marine life. No food stands so bring your own food and take your trash so we can keep it clean and beautiful.

When we arrived with kayaks, the wind was pretty calm and it was an easy paddle out to the small island to the right as you stand with your back to the beach. The best snorkeling, according to our guide, is the west side of the island. We have snorkeled all over the Caribbean and were very disappointed at the... More

This beach is the perfect image of paradise. The color of the water is breathtaking, great snorkeling, calm water for kids, hardly any traffic and palms for shade. AMAZING

Unlike many of the beaches in the national reserve, La Chiva doesn't have one single parking lot. It's a serious of drive ins that are numbered. I recommend driving passed all of them to see what type of beach is closest to you. If I recall correctly, the numbers around 7 were better for swimming (less rocks) and the numbers... More

Access is by unpaved road but so worth it. Turn off at pullout #4, park leaving nothing in unlocked vehicle. The beach is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Snorkel to the right side over to the rocky point. Sea fans and brain corals. Even spotted an invasive lion fish. Fantastic.
