We found not all it was cracked up to be. However I must say it was rainy the first time we went, and windy/cloudy the next time. It's a beautiful, VERY large beach to take pictures of - but the waves were pretty wavy and it wasn't calm like I thought it would be. It's too bad all the little... More

Sun Bay is the official government-run public beach (balneario) on the south shore of Vieques. You can walk to it along the beach from Esperanza. There are limited facilities, but plenty of parking for those arriving by car. It's a good, long sandy crescent with a sandy bottom that drops off fast. Good wave action, not calm water.

Offers amenities (bathroom) and you can walk from Esperanza. Plenty of palm trees and a huge beach with crystal clear water. The beauty and accessibility made this beach 100% worth it trip.

This beach seems to get knocked because it is more crowded then the other ones. The beach is extremely long though, about a mile, so if your willing to walk a bit you can likely find an uncrowded spot. The beach is one of the most beautiful on the island and should be visited. There is a 2 dollar fee... More

You need to pay before 3:00. But worth it, and they have a camp grounds and showers, real bathroom( not a potter potty bring toilet paper) .

First, my review is solely for "Low Season". aka AUGUST. & Honestly, part of me doesn't even want to write this review because I don't want people crowding my beach.. BUT I won't be selfish.. Don't stay in the area by the lifeguards.. Keep walking down past the rocky area to the second little lifeguard house.. Nobody is there, but... More

This beach is so clear and the sand is so white. The east side of the beach is so empty. It was like we were in our own private Island.

This is the second year in a row that we have planned to visit vieques and camp out in Sun Bay. The experience is always so enjoyable, from the moment of catching the ferry to staying camping. This beach definitely has it charm, water is so crystal clear. So much fun!!!

We really liked the beach. The only thing missing was that the campsite area was not on the beach/sand. It was on dirt ground and there are some red ants issues. Overall, great place for a day trip or one overnight stay.
