There are many secluded beaches in Vieques that are worth exploring, which we did, but we kept finding ourselves heading back to Sun Bay where there are palm trees for shade if wanted and even on a busy weekend day in February one can find a spot with solitude. An idyllic Caribbean beach experience.

a short walk out of Esperenza and you can walk right along the beach to get to it. Plenty of room so it never felt busy. Awesome setting, shade under the bigger palms and at one end toiled facilites and a super great little cafe / snack bar with the most wonderful host

Friends of ours who've been to Vieques many times suggested that we should meet them at Sun Beach. We may not have gone, had they not asked us to meet them there, as we're not big on manicured, 'developed' beaches with bathrooms, outdoor showers, bar-b-ques, et al. Oh my, were we wrong. Yes, it's got the tourist facilities, but it... More

The beach experience was excellent. The sea was a bit rough due to recent stormy weather but the long stretch of beach was great for walking. Nice bathrooms. The horses on Vieques as well as the friendly dogs are a nice touch.

Sun Bay is a gathering place for fun and surf and picnics and parties, etc., etc. Lots of room, palm tree shade, handy trash receptacles, good snorkeling and swimming. It's also good for campers and backpackers. Easy walk to Esperanza. Love it there, Jack M.

This is a wide crescent shaped beach with beautiful golden sand and a mild surf break. The ability to walk to the Esperanza restaurants nearby is an extra bonus. Snorkelling was marginal but the vis was poor when we were there due to frequent rains.

This beach was picturesque. Easy to find a spot to sit under the palms on your own. There were wild horses bathing in the tide pool nearby. It was amazing!

This almost mile long beach studded with Palm tress and sea grapes is refreshing and an outstanding recreational place. The water is deep fast and super for swimming. Vieques is proud of this beauty and should be. It is great.

We had a relaxing day, enjoying swimming and sunning. Lots of shade, not good for snorkeling, but wonderful for swimming. The shade makes it a great place for children and those who have fair skin

Sun Bay offers best choice for most people. Beautiful beach with easy access and accommodations such as bathrooms, swimming area marked off, good snorkeling , food, park rangers etc. Also on many days try the food trucks outside the gate.
