A beautiful villa overlooking Ponce. It is a very attractive home full of antiques and decorative pieces. I found it interesting to see how people in the 1930's lived in Puerto Rico. The views are nice and the gardens and pool are lovely More

Being Spanish myself, I was not impressed by the building, beautiful as it is, but rather enjoyed the location ( wonderful view of Ponce), the gardens and the idea of rendering homage to an old family by showing their home, furniture and old ways. With the nearby Taino ruins and the city itself, the most interesting atractions around. More

The castle was the home of the Serralles family who are the founders of the Don Q rum distillery. Built in the 1930's, overlooking the city of Ponce and views of the Caribbean, this place is amazing! The tour starts with a short film about the family and the sugar cane cultivation and rum production. From there you move to... More

This museum estate of the Serralles Family is a window on the era of rum(sugar cane) production in Pueto Rico at the turn of the last century. The mansion (circa 1930) is worth a visit for its architecture and the attractive open central courtyard. A movie about the family is shown in Spanish with English subtitles, but tours may be... I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to Castillo Serralles. At the beginning of the guided tour you are treated to a short film on the beginnings of Castillo Serralles and the business of the Serralles family--rum. It was an economics lesson for early 20th century Puerto Rico. The family actually started their business during the Depression/Prohibition period (the side... More

Don Q and the Serralles Family are synonymous with Puerto Rico. Bacardi is NOT. The family home is a must visit. The view is spectacular. The tour guide will help you better understand the economics of Puerto Rico and its history. More
