We went to Puerto Rico to visit our 1 year old grandson and decided to take him to the zoo. I'm so glad he will not remember this experience. The only animals that seemed happy and content were the aquatic wildlife, fish, turtles, amphibious creatures and birds. The black bears were lethargic, very thin and were not even moving. The... After reading all the local reviews I was scared to pay too much, but after all it was great the experience my daughter enjoy the day also my friend daughters and my wife too and a course me. I felt more a personalize visit because the animals are there so near to you, that is a pleasure to see them... More

We had high hopes for this zoo considering the location and wanted to take our toddler to enjoy the animals. Unfortunately we stumbled on a dead and swollen racoon and tried to report it. The front staff said they were short staffed and unable to respond. Considering we paid $13 an adult this was an expensive outing and many exhibits... More

We, a group of four 60 somethings, spent an enjoyable few hours at the zoo. I feel I need to counter an earlier review from a person obviously unfamiliar with animal exhibition and a zoo with a particular and focused mission. This was a very nice small zoo targeted to local (island wide) families and children. As with most government supported... More

There are not many animals as you would expect, but the ones living there look in good conditions. The habitats look big enough for the animals. The human facilities, however, are in need of funding.

One of the saddest things I have ever seen! The entire place is a disgrace!!! The facility is FILTHY! Walkways, railings, observation areas in front the animals, bathrooms - total mess! The poor Animals are FILTHY and look very mal-nourished. How they are getting away with these conditions is beyond me! If you care about animals - don't go here... More

This zoo has poor keeping and not up to date. Animals look horrible, very skinny and not very active. Not a lot of animals to observe.

I visited the zoo 3 yrs ago, and the experiance was really nice. But during the last visit what a difference... It looks awful, all the facilities are dirty; there are birds poo everywhere. The only thing I enjoyed was the "mariposario" but you can only see one kind of butterfly. Dont waste your time visiting this place.

As a local, I have visited the Mayagüez Zoo in several occasions during its development. This is the best I have seen of it. They have made several improvements. If you compare it with most of the mainland zoos, there is much to be desired, but it still a nice experience especially for the kids. They have a very ample... More

This is the saddest zoo you will ever find. There should be more funding to clean the zoo and create a better habitat for the animals. My children got half way through and said lets go Mom, this is too sad.
