It's the second other cathedral in the Americas (after the one in Santo Domingo, DR) so if you are in Old San Juan it is worth the trip inside. The structure itself is in great condition and the artwork is fantastic. The highlight of this is the tomb of Ponce de Leon.

This cathedral is enormous and beautiful. A must see if you are visiting Old San Juan and it is free. You can make a donation if you see fit.

I grew up in Florida and Juan Ponce de Leon was a big part of the early history. Go the this cathedral and see his final resting place, along with many examples of early religious art. neat place - you may get that unique chill down your back. I would venture to say there are some old souls still wandering... More

A great view of an old street with trees lining up all the way down to an exit to get to de la Princesca. Lots of shades here. If you walk on the left side, that is a "shopping" street were you can find Coach and a few other brand names outlets. Fun just to walk and relax.

the cathedral is nice... very old style and dark inside. No charge to get in. Some vendors selling religious stuff inside on one side of cathedral. Very pretty for what it is.

There's a sarcophagus here that claims to hold the remains of Ponce De Leon! That in itself is cool, but the rest of the cathedral is from another time, the artwork on the ceiling is incredible. Getting here is 1/2 the fun!

Having travelled quite a bit and having seen many cathedrals around the world, the San Juan Cathedral is not worth visiting. It is not that large, it is quite rundown, and has no air conditioning. It was a waste of our time.

Amazing architecture, and beautiful. Definitely feels like a piece of history. It is quiet and solemn, and seems to be trying to balance tourism with respect for the religion and remains there.

Art is amazing as is the stained glass. It is a nice place to get out of the sun for a bit and admire the art.

This is a "must see" when you are in Viejo San Juan! The architecture of the building is beautiful by itself. The paintings and statues and beautifully maintained. The ceiling is beautifully painted as well. The cathedral contains the tomb of 2 saints and Ponce de Leon. Make sure you have your camera with you. Truly, one of the most... More
