The cathedral was built in 1511 according to the plaques. Daily mass is held; the schedule is available in the foyer. Be respectful, it is an active church.

I have seen many Churches and Cathedrals in Europe, but this one was the most underwhelming experience. I don't mean the chipping paint or curtains with holes. I mean the painted on ornaments on the Ceiling. It's all fake, just painted on. A waste of my time

I saw the steeple walking up the street and I was like, that has to be it! Not only was J.Lo married here, but this Cathedral was built in 1540 making it one of the oldest building in the Americas. Kind of crazy to wrap your mind around. The paintings and ceiling detail was amazing. Being, that people were having... More

As a lifelong Catholic, I am steeped in childhood memories of the church of my grandparents, and this cathedral took me back to the feelings evoked as a child. The feel, the smell, the calm, the holiness abounds in this cathedral from the moment I walked in. Mass was being celebrated, but the openness of the structure and the fact... More

This Cathedral is the oldest in San Juan. The murals, painting and statues are breathtaking. Fit this in during your Old San Juan tour.

Beautiful church with some history thrown in also. Worth a stop if you're in the old city of San Juan.

Gorgeous Church, my favorite part was the celing and art work. The Spanish influence is very strong and a great site to see.

Beautiful venue for a wedding. A little warm but fans placed throughout church. Acoustics make it hard to understand. Right across the street from El Covento hotel.
