Located near the center of Calle del Cristo, across from a small plaza with some interesting banyan trees, this nice looking cathedral, originally built in 1521, then rebuilt after fire in 1540 in the Late Gothic style, then remodeled in 1852 resulting in the Neoclassical style façade one sees today, is the second oldest cathedral in the Americas and is... Very nice church with the tomb of Ponce de Leon. Some parts are from 1540's. It doesn't take very long to walk around it and it's free.

This is a gorgeous historical Cathedral that is across from the hotel El Convento. Part of the reason I usually stay at this hotel is because it is next to this Cathedral. I love the Mother of Divine Providence in the back with the PR flag next to her, and it is so peaceful and of cool temperature inside. There... More

I was stunned by how beautiful this cathedral is. with it's high arching ceilings, side altars, and stained glass window.

When you think of the thousands of sailors who traveled here and walked to this cathedral to give thanks for safe travels it really makes you understand how special this place is.

When I saw this building, I knew I had to walk in. This place is simply wonderful and when I walked in, unfortunately it was the last of the tour, but it was gorgeous. To think that this building is over 500 years old and the work that has gone into this building and that is was all done by... More

Very beautiful cathedral with many historical references to the new world. Very interesting to continue to read the history of religion and the importance to the island

As we walked in Old San Juan we came across the cathedral. Not that I am into cathedrals but this one was nice. There was a service going on when we went in, but it was off to the side. The Cathedral has seen better days but I am sure most people would appreciate it
