Amazing religious and historical site featuring the tomb of ponce De leon in the cathedral wall. Amazing architecture. The altar, ceiling and walls are decorated with such splendor and the solemnity of the cathedral puts one in touch with themselves and their God.

Sparse, sort of run down, embroiled in political dispute.Just across from El Convento. Scene of many society weddings and historic funerals.

Our Mom lived in Old San Juan for a while and went to church at another site under renovation. So my sister and I return each year to pray for our Puerto Rican family at this cathedral. The cathedral is a quiet place, warming, know our Mom and her sister, our Tia, are at home now, when we visit.

I wish we had been there for a service. The organ is beautiful and I would love to have heard it. Space, while beautiful, is surprisingly simple.

This church was built in 1519 and holds the resting place of Ponce De Leon. The church has lovely cathedral ceilings and gorgeous frescoes. There are beautiful stained glass windows as well. This is a working church so please be respectful. The last restoration was made in 1970 and its in desperate need of some restoration. It would be sad... More

San Juan Cathedral (St. John the Baptist) is an oasis of tranquility amidst busy Calle del Cristo. It has some pretty stained glass windows and some lovely portrayals of the Virgin Mary. The body of Ponce de Leon is interred there under marble.interesting. The wax covered body of San Pio can be seen through the glass enclosed casket. He was... More

While passing through Old San Juan, I wanted to see the San Juan Cathedral. It was very quiet and peaceful; the painting and statues are historically; although I am not Catholic, this was a good experience
