Beautiful architecture!

I am not a religious person, nor am I a catholic, but I am an admirer of architecture and if you are too then you much check out the San Juan Cathedral.

Beautiful Cathedral - it is open air and there is no air conditioning. We accidentally went to Spanish Mass, but we knew enough to follow along :)

An interesting, small old church. Not overly beautiful but obviously a landmark for the locals. Take your time to look at all of the statues and other items of interest. A nice respite from the heat when you are strolling in Old San Juan.

The church is at the top of the hill after entering the last remaining gate into old San Juan. Interred inside the church is Ponce de Leon, who was a major inhabitant on the island when not looking for the Fountain of Youth in Florida. The interior of the church reminded me of the churches of Italy.

If you are into churches or history, this is a brilliant place to stop into. The church dates back to the 1500's and is absolutely beautiful inside, and free to roam around inside.

While this cathedral isn't as large or grand in architecture as many other older religious buildings, it still has some nice paintings inside, is cool, peaceful, and has a tomb in which Ponce de Leon was buried. You'll likely pass it as you walk along Cristo street as it's right in the middle, and with free admission to the public... More

Not worth stopping at, in my opinion. A lot of the cathedral is in disrepair, and it is not overly impressive to begin with. When we were there, the place was decked out with cords and lights, and was hooked up to what looked like a TV van.

We were trying to get to Castillo del Morro and wandered upon this beautiful church. Normally my husband and I aren't huge religious tourists, but once you see how grand it is, with open doors, almost everyone who passes enters. Upon entering there is music playing to keep the mood and quite a few directions in Spanish (silence, no photography... More
