We were there for the feast of the three kings. They really celebrate the Epiphany here, with festivities through the weekend. The Cathedral was particularly beautiful decorated and a living cultural religious site, not just a place of art.

Beautiful church on the uphill road towards El Morro. The cathedral itself is deceiving my big and the dome is beautiful. There is a small square out front that has some cool trees and access to a few side roads towards the water.

One of the oldest in Latin America, but not one of the more beautiful cathedrals. The tomb of Ponce de Leon is a drawing card, the Altar de la Patria a controversial aspect of the churcch.

We wandered in to this magnificent cathedral and felt transported back 200 years. It is magnificent! I have not seen the Sistine Chapel but to walk through the stations at this church and view the architecture was amazing.

I was impressed with the overall beauty inside. Look close at the details of the varies numerous alters and balcony high up in the ceiling. Amazing place!

JUAN PONCE DE LEON crypt in this clasic Catedral, Christmas decorations and beautiful simple stable settings still up. Diagonally across is the El Convento Hotel .a former convent now a high end Hotel. Area very beautifully restored and now has some sidewalk cafes overlooking the old part of the harbor...on the walk stop in the fine shops. Take a taxi... More

We just finished dinner across the street when the celebration began. Our kids had a great time and toured the cathedral during all the festivities. This is a major holiday so most of the city was closed except for the tourist spots and restaurants. There was music and singing and a processional. Streets nearby had music in the small squares... The Cathedral de San Juan de Puerto Rico (1511) is a large and resplendent heritage of the catholic past of Spanish life here. The inside is magnificent in its size and beauty, steeped in the culture of the people. The fresco above the altar is a work worthy of this majestic place of worship. The stained glass windows are stories... More

The cathedral is not huge so it doesn't take long to visit. It is an excellent place to sit and rest for a few minutes out of the heat and sun. This is an active church so there will be services, weddings, etc., happening throughout the day.

What an absolutely lovely church! We were extremely fortunate to visit just after the new year so the church was still decorated for Christmas. The nativity was wonderful and the altar was quite beautiful. Every nook and cranny were a sight to behold.
