My boyfriend and I stopped by here as we were walking around Old San Juan. It is an example of simplicity. Unlike many other European churches, this one is unadorned, but it's beauty and historical value make up for that. The tomb of famous Spanish conquistador and city founder Juan Ponce de León is in the cathedral. Take some time,... More

Worth seeing. You are able to go inside and walk around the church. It is free but they accept donations.

No one mentions it but right in front of the Cathedral and across El Convento Hotel is located San Juan Cathedral Plaza (Plaza de la Catedral de San Juan), a quaint little charming plaza, supposedly the oldest plaza in Old San Juan, you can buy a snow cone (piragua) and take a break under the centenaries trees!

We visited on a tour of Old San Juan and enjoyed the history of the church as told by our tour guide. They still hold services there on certain times so be sure and look up the times of masses if you are planning to attend.

This place is beautiful and on the way to the fort so we stopped for a few pictures. Note it is on a busy street so be careful.

I love old churches and the Cathedral is beautiful. I've been to Old San Juan a few times and I always make the effort to stop by the Cathedral. There is a peacefulness that I find welcoming to my day, which you don't find in many other places.

This is a nice stop during your visit to Old San Juan. There are some photo worthy sites inside the church and the staff at the entrance was friendly and bilingual. You don't need a lot of time to see it, so if you have a little extra time it is worth the stop.

If you like cathedrals, this is definitely a must see. It is truly a beautiful cathedral. I would have liked to see mass though.
