It's a pretty beach, don't get me wrong, but it was a bit underwhelming. Highlights include the fresh water (cold) mixing into the ocean (warm), and the rougher waves. The beach was very touristy (and pricey, comparatively) and I would avoid the bar and restaurant. The staff was not welcoming, everything was pricey, and service was slow. My recommendation: continue... More

We used the beach for a couple of hours on a day trip to Port Antonio out of Ocho Rios. And what a stunning beach it is! The beach is fairly small but spectacularly scenic, hemmed in between rocky shores. A lazy clean river with lots of fish empties at the beach in the sea, and you can actually choose... More

Visiting San San Beach with family and friends was one of the best parts of my trip to Jamaica. Hopping onto a boat for relaxing sail to Frenchman's Cove brought our group a spectacular treat. Million dollar homes and seaside villas provided the perfect and unusual backdrop. While the kids and youthful adults climbed the lush hillside, others frolicked with... More

We visited Frenchman's cove several times in July 2013. It's a gorgeous area in Portland, just outside the city of Port Antonio. Because it's in a rain forest region, the hillsides are very lush with trees covered with a variety of orchids, ferns and pothos vines. The beach is triangular shaped since it's a little bay bordered on either side... More

This is an absolutely beautiful beach! The sand and water is perfect. The river runs into the beach here. Therefor, you can enjoy not only a perfect Jamaican beach but also a refreshing and beautiful river swim. Lots of fun little tropical fish to see in the river. Great facilities with restaurant, bathroom and beach chairs. Great place to spend... More

Frenchman's Cove has the perfect beach to relax on for an afternoon if you are looking to get away from the harassment which occurs at most Jamaican beaches. Although the designated swimming area is small, if you venture past the rope and outside the bay, you can swim over some pretty awesome reef. I have never stayed in any of... More

Lovely spot, easy to find with good parking . There is a charge for entry and not far to walk. Beach was lovely and the areas to swim however was dissappointed with the food available. Asked for the menu and was offered what could be described as a fast food joint menu with very little choice. We hadn't had lunch... More

Accommodations were very nice but a little pricey for us. The beach was very nice - however, even guests of the hotel had to pay for beach chairs. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. We had a spectacular view of the sea from our cabin. Our cabin was very spacious, could use some updating but that's not a big factor on... More

Beautiful beach. Rope swings over fresh water creek leading to ocean with fun surf, not too rough, just right!
