Well worth a visit if you're in the Montego Bay area. The road up is very poor (the worst we encountered in Jamica) Higher elevelation, so a little cooler. We paid $ 15 US each for entrance fee (we understand this varies) This was fair for a one hour visit. Many colorful birds including the Dr Humingbird, Jamacia's rare National... more

Years ago Miss Lisa ran Rocklands,( her home) she was an amazing character who would tell you off if you wore the wrong colour clothing, children were not allowed and she called the bird and they came to her, she reminded me of an old school head mistress! Fritz looked after her and was quietly in the background. When she... more

Most peacful and beautiful adventure yet! You must experience this when visiting Jamaica! My 17 year old daughter and I took a road trip from Negril, was about a 2 hr drive... Fritz was a wonderful guide! I didnt mind paying the $15 entry, even though we were told it would be $8, however what really threw me off was... more

I suspect there are many who visit Jamaica who never venture out from their all-inclusive resort, and never get further inland than what they see from the coastal highway en route to and from the airport. What a shame! To really experience Jamaica, you really need to do some side-trips. And I'm not just talking about getting to Margaritaville, or... more

One of the stranger experiences in my life- Isolated, not really a sanctuary- just a house & some grounds that attract birds- our cab driver had to honk to let the caretaker know he had customers. There we were, my wife & I sitting like a couple of fools waiting for a hummingbird to perch on our finger, while guide... more

This really is a great place to go and see Humming Birds without having to look at them through a wire mesh -- they are free to fly wherever they want. But just be warned -- We were charger $50 US for this 2 adults and 1 child !! Which I must admit is very expensive for 1/2 an hour. more

Loved it!

We went to the Rockland bird sanctuary. I thought it might be dull for my 11 and 8 year olds, but they loved it. I just have to say that the guide we had was increible and so patient with my 8 yr old! We stood in the jungle and fed doctor birds and humming birds by hand. My 11... more

This place was really great. I visited with my five year old daughter and we both had a wonderful time. Fritz the caretaker was interesting and told us all about the different birds that we fed while there, then took us for a walk around the grounds, where we saw various tropical plants and a gorgeous view of Montego Bay... more

If you are visiting Montego Bay and are a bird lover then Rocklands Bird Sanctuary is a must. It isn't the easiest of places to find (about 7Km outside of Montego Bay) as although signposted it is at the end of a narrow unmade track, so taxi transport with local knowledge is a must but once there the experience is... more
