A good local beach

I spent an afternoon here with a friend, it was quiet enough and felt like one of the few places in Kingston I was treated like a local rather than a tourist.

Fort Clarence is near enough to the city (Kingston) and easily accessed. Nice beach, but can be very windy! Tasty Jamaican style seafood and sides available for purchase. Lots of parking., security etc.

Clean and relaxing. Sea was ruff that day and was told this before we entered the property. Would definitely visit there again, since you have to pay, I will remember to bring my Jam down ID which allows a big discount.

This is a very good beach to get away from the crazy crowds at the public beach a few Kilometers down the road. The nominal admission fee gives you access to changing rooms, showers and rest rooms. A word of caution if you are going to eat order your food then go and swim

Good silent beach, to enjoy with family and friends. Hope you have to be there on a clean water day and good weather. Food offering there is not much good. Place is nice to enjoy a day or half.

Do you want clear blue sea, a nice white sand beach, a gentle shelving slope down in the water, great views, delicious fried fish ?? AND without the harassment which one gets at Hellshire Beach, which is bliss in itself. Then - go to Fort Clarence. It so much nicer - so much nicer. There's a charge to go in... More

Kingston is known for being the concrete jungle as it is definitely a hot place to be. With that being said I desperately wanted some beach time and was happy to have been able to get to Portmore to have a day at the ocean. The environment itself was very pretty and it was a very diverse crowd. Although I... More

It's not a resort beach, but that's what we like about it. Sometimes the sea is choppy and sometimes it has a lot of weed, but sometimes it's flat and clear blue. It's always warm and the beach is yellow sand. There aren't really any hustlers and it's easy to get fish and drinks from the three shacks that cook... More

Fort Clarence is a public beach, managed by the government, so you pay a small admission fee to access the beach. There are swings for the children and vendors selling fish and festival. It's a nice family venue, no harassment , no stress.
