Citadelle is gorgeous-- with what I personally found as the most breathtaking views in Haiti. We paid 200 goud each for "entrance" (though we never hadto show anyone the "ticket"). If I were to do it again I'd just try to pay the guard at the actual citadelle entrance 200 for the group. We got a guide who spoke good... More

If you are lucky enough to travel to Haiti, you should seriously consider making every effort to visit Cap Haitien. The city itself is marvelous, and well worth visiting in its own right, but Haiti's two top tourists attractions (though hardly any tourists go there) – the Citadelle and the palace of Sans Souci – are just about an hour... Comparable to any fortress in Europe. Even more amazing, perhaps, given the mountaintop location. Stunning views and great restoration work. Would never have expected something so amazing there. Cannons and cannonball collection unlike any I've seen. More

The Citadel was very impressive, and easy to get to by car. Walking from the Palace takes a long time - be prepared. Unfortunately there was a lot of rubbish at the Citadel. We did see people cleaning up but it was disappointing to see so much rubbish. It is definitely worth visiting, it's an incredible structure that has weathered... More

If you’re a fitness freak then the hike up the hill really gets the heart pumping, the Citadelle obviously has a lot of history attached to it, and it’s a shame that it’s not managed better as the fort itself is full of rubbish. Very disappointing! More

This is for sure a world hertiage place. I still dont know if it is best to view it from distance (Cap Haitien) or at the spot. It still have a big potencial as a turist spot. Hopefully it will be saved and be to the best for the Haiti in the time to come. Actually I'm glad it is... More

The Citadel along with Sans Souci really is a top notch destination in Haiti. Full of history, culture, and adventure. The city of Milot is a great starting point for a visit. You can hike or take horses up. We did the latter although it was a little scary on the sides of the mountain. Once at the top, you... More
