Our excursion was organized with a fast catamaran for the leg from Samaná to the park. It took us 45 mins to reach it, the trip not very interesting. But when you are there, you find a wonderful collection of big calcarean rocky islands covered with exuberant vegetation, in a setting of blue sea. It would be worth to spend... More

Went on April the 8.2015. Expensive and there is no much to see. The trip is a bumpy ride both ways. Don't buy the CD from Rafael ( the photographer) it's unreadable, a waist of money. I e-mail them and still have no pictures. Thieves!

Either go by boat and anchor out, where the snorkeling is amazing or drive there and gaze upon the most gorgeous rainforest type scenery.

I really enjoyed this trip. Lots of fun and things to see. The caves were very interesting and the beach at Cayo Levantado was much nicer than the one at Cayacoa. The only negative is that they put you through a gauntlet of stores with aggressive sales people as you go and leave the public beach. These were by far... More

To get there is by the sea only and I really enjoy that catamaran trip to Los Haitises. The fauna there is beautiful, all seafood eating birds could be seen there. Then the ancient caves walk through made me appreciate human progress. This is a not to miss adventure in Samaná.

Beautiful national parc. But you have to be aware that it's a 2 and half hour drive. With incredible panorama. You pass in a lot of villages, stop in a farmhouse, go by ''boat'' in a mangrove forest and visit the groto hideout of a famous pirate.

The National Park Los Haitises was an incredible place, we came in a boat with a great tour guide that knew a lot of history about the park, and the island of La Hispaniola. The water was beautiful we saw flying fish on the way to the caves, once we arrived to our first stop we went inside a large... More

We spent one night in the park arriving from Juan Dolio. There are two hotels, part of one complex controlled by two different owners. Very interesting architecture. I don't think it matters which hotel you stay at. We were able to book a tour through the mangroves for $15 per person in the park for an hour. Loved the tour.... More

We learned a lot during our excursion to Los Haitises. The history of the Tainos natives and their cave drawings was a sad and interesting story. Beautiful wildlife and scenery.

When planning our trip to the DR, this attraction was the most difficult for me to find good information on how to get there... Having said that, I found out that you can book any number of different tour packages ranging in price from $70 to $195 (I'm sure more if you look!) We decided to try and wing it... More
