OH MY GOD!! it was MY DREAM to see a whale..i a realize my dream when I went to see them..I saw 3 of them 2 adults and a baby whale..such a gorgeous and beautiful experience..they were playfull and friendly :)

We chose the Whale Samana tour because it is run by Kim Beddall who guarantees a 'whale sensitive' tour. The crew are marine biologists studying these amazing creatures, so you get a legitimate experience knowing that you're not contributing to an exploitative experience. Great half-day excursion in Feb. - May. Saw at least 20 whales from Catamaran trip and stopped at Bacardi Island for drink & walk on beach.

Having seen the sperm whales off Dominica last year I was pleased to find a cruise calling into Samana bay in February while the humpbacks are there, we booked. Seeing the whales is an amazing experience, but please stay away informal tours with local fishermen unless you want to be hauled around in a small motor boat at top speed each time a whale comes near the water surface, scaring the whales away and perhaps even putting them in danger of being hurt. whale watching is by far the greatest thing I've ever experienced... While in Samana, must go to watch these beautiful whales around Samana between January and March

We were there in whale mating season. Definitely worth checking out, we saw four or 5 different whales. Those who get seasick should be careful.

We went on the whale watching excursion by toursamanawithTerry.. this was the most incredible experience. If you are there between mid Jan to beginning of March, take the excursion..
