We were in Samana in Feb.28 2014 for a week, we stayed at Grand Paradise Samana. The bus ride is a hour and a half to resort but goes by quick. When you get on bus at airport your rooms are assigned to you which was nice. A very nice resort, very clean, the beds were really comfortable. Food was... More

We went out on a fairly small boat to do some whale watching and were well rewarded for our effort, it was more than a little choppy and many of our party fell ill to the motion, we were more fortunate and clung to get some reasonable pictures. great trip.

We were constantly harassed by locals from the moment we got off the shuttle to when we got back on to go up to the resort. The locals always want to sell you something and tour you around. Even when you ask them to leave you alone they just keep following you and asking for money. We tried to lose... More

After a couple of days in Punta Cana, (D.R.), we decided to head for the day to Samana for a full day tour. After a short plane ride from Punta Cana Aiport, we headed in a AWD truck, safari style towards their closest rainforest. The ride was bumpy, we got drenched by a strong passing rain shower, but the fun... More

We took the hotel bus several times to downtown. Always felt safe some of the vendors are a little aggressive the prices were better on the beach. The town itself seems orderly and safe as Caribbean villages go. If I come back my husband will like to come to town and have a beer with the locals.

While staying at BP Cayacoa, we had the opportunity to walk into Samana everyday if we wanted. Several times we did and never felt unsafe at all, whether it was early in the morning or evening. There are plenty of lil shops to explore, some bars that face out to the bay, very nice. The people are very friendly and... More

Last port of call for the NCL's GEM 14 Feb 14. To reach this beach you have to go by tender but it is well worth the trip. The beach is beautiful with nice white sand, free from coral and rocks. Ideal for snorkeling as the water is very clear even with the people enjoying the water. There are beach chairs... More

Last March we hired a driver to make a return visit to Samana Bay. We had taken an excursion the year before and enjoyed the trip there very much but thought we would have more opportunities to explore the region with less of a tourist feel if we drove out there. We were specifically heading back to an Island out... More
