This beach is very popular with the nearby residents and Dutch guests staying at one of the many resorts in the area. It now costs 6 guilders per person, when we visited in 2011 and 2012, there was no fee to get in. Chairs, day beds, umbrellas and lounges can be rented. There is even a fee to play at... More

We were taken here after paddle boarding, and because we arrived after 0430pm we didn't have to pay any enterance fee straight from the beach we snorkled along the rock wall there were damsels, puffers, and pigmy Angels. You can rent beach chairs. This area seemed trendy with the beach bars and resteraunts. There was also some people sunbathing topless... More

Jan Thiel was recommended for the snorkeling; however, I must have gone at the wrong time because the water was so cloudy that you could not see much of anything. The beach itself was super crowded, which made it feel more like a spring break beach. I prefer the less populated beaches.

First of all, there are two thing you must know about this beach: 1). The beach is private access only, so you have to be a guest at one of the nearby hotels or pay an entrance fee. 2). It really isn't much of a beach in the traditional sense: the artificial shoreline is more akin to a pier. The... More

This beach has some pretty good snorkeling just outside the rock walls but it's very crowded. If you prefer less crowded beaches then go somewhere else because there are other pretty beaches with good snorkeling. The upside is that the paid parking has security.

For Curacao this beach is below average, there are much nicer waters! The facilities are good but the service sucks! There are a view resorts at the beach so it is crowded!

I gave this beach a 3 because the area we were in was very rocky and hard on the feet. If you like to lay on the beach and not get in the water, this would be for you. We did get some great photos here but that was about it. Probably wouldn't visit it again.

My husband and I went to Curacao for a "snorkeling" vacation. In the literature we read, Jan Thiel Beach was recommended as a great snorkeling spot. We chose Jan Thiel as our first spot. We found it to be average snorkeling and were a little concerned that if this beach was rated as one of the best, what would the... More

I just had a few hours to spend in Curacao and we decided to visit the Jan Thiel beach. It was thankfully very quiet that day. We could really enjoy all those birds who came very close. View was great and also the food.
