Although we had been on Curacao numerous times, we had always failed to visit the Maritime Museum. Not good, that. We clearly should have gone before. This is a small museum in a restored building with quite a history (including that of a house of ill repute). The building insides are great itself, including the sloping walkway up to the... More

Nice small museum with a lot of artifacts from the history of Curacao. Small entry fee but it is definitely worth it. There is a quick video there that you have to watch, gives a brief overview of the island and the things you're looking at

I love history and this place has Curacao's story from the beginning, recommended the 20 min presentation first to give you some background.

Something to do while in Willemstad. Admission was cheap. Learned a lot about Curacao history through the video at the back. Would be especially interesting for those interested in history, sailing, and ships.

The top floor is hot and stuffy. Start with the informative video. Then work your way down from the top. No spoilers, but do check out the history of the figurehead hanging on the wall

Nice little museum, located just behind the floating market in Punda. The entrance fee is rather high, but it is an interesting place for the nautically interestet. The aproximately 30 min infoflim is well made and provides a good lot of not to specific background on the nautical and seafaring history of Curacao. The exhibits are well displayed, only the... This museum is just across the bridge from Punda into the region of Scharloo, but it's very close talking distance from most of the other major attractions in Willemstad, so I do recommend it for those that want something more than just playing with a dolphin. What I love about this museum is that it's partly about the maritime industry,... More

Because of Curacao maritime culture, I consider this museum, together with the Kura Hulanda Museum, two necessary stops to learn about the city. Housed in an interesting building, it tells you about the Columbus voyages, the difference between a pirate and a privateer and its consequences, as well as other curious maritime historical data. Great for teenagers. Highly recommended.

Installed in an old, historic and carefully restored building - in the past it was a hospice and later a hotel - the museum is a private collection that neatly portrays, in three floors and in hundreds of different pieces, the maritime history of Curacao over the last 300 years, from the discovery of America to the present days. Fee... More
