Because of Curacao maritime culture, I consider this museum, together with the Kura Hulanda Museum, two necessary stops to learn about the city. Housed in an interesting building, it tells you about the Columbus voyages, the difference between a pirate and a privateer and its consequences, as well as other curious maritime historical data. Great for teenagers. Highly recommended.

Installed in an old, historic and carefully restored building - in the past it was a hospice and later a hotel - the museum is a private collection that neatly portrays, in three floors and in hundreds of different pieces, the maritime history of Curacao over the last 300 years, from the discovery of America to the present days. Not worth your time. Overpriced for what is displayed. It looks more like a high school project. Don't waste your time and money.

Check the hours to make sure you are able to visit the museum. This museum covers the history from the first discoveries to present day. This is a good place to start in order to get the history of the area.

Very interesting and worthwhile - enjoyed the 30 min documentary. Found the history fascinating - helped us understand the Dutch roots. The architecture of the building and the history of how it was restored was fascinating.

Take a look, only $6 and lots of information. We spent less than an hour inside and was very satisfied with what we saw/read. It is right downtown so you can continue with your plans right outside.

Curaçao has a rich maritime history, so the museum was long in coming. Not old, it's fine, if small. Well-run and maintained. Gives you a good sense of past and present. Not large. Good library. Also has tours through the harbour.

A brand spanking new restored historic building houses this little gem of island maritime history . Whoever curated this effort deserves a snappy salute! My husband and I enjoyed the early models of sailing ships and sunken treasure extracted years later, the harbor's early port days and journey through time and advances in mechanics and technology. The uniforms and diving... More

This museum is on the smaller side but there are plenty of items to see. If you are interested in sailing or maritime history you'll probably enjoy it. For us, an hour was sufficient to see everything. Their gift shop has some higher priced items that are unique. I Certainly recommend a visit for the maritime minded.

I went with my husband, 14 yo daughter and my uncle and we all found it very interesting. There is a short video that is defiantly worth watching, puts it all into perspective.
