This is just a really fascinating castle to explore - lovely and interesting building well preserved. Sadly most of the info is in Spanish without any translations, but then I really shouldn't expect everyone else to speak English so fair enough. Well worth a visit and lovely views. Beware the jiniteroes! More

An easy drive from central Santiago de Cuba this Morro Castle (there is of course an even better known one in Havana) is not to be missed. If you have decent Spanish the displays on the history of buccaneering, piracy and the world of privateering are pretty good. If you don't have Spanish just enjoy the extraordinary views from up... The entrance is expencive, you also pay for the camera, the persentation of the canons started 40 minutes late and was so so fake, bad amature theatre, teens with army uniforms laughing and talking to eachother all the time, making fun of their own presentation, the tourists and their flag. More

Morro castle as it more know by this name overlooks the entrance to Santiago de Cuba Bay. This is a very well preserved heritage site that dates from the mid 1500's. From a high point of land it overlooks a vast area of the southern Caribeean sea and the entrance to Santiago de Cuba harbour . It is well preserved... More

The landscape it dominates, quality of its construction, state of the conservation and a small handicraft bazaar. If you sum up all these, that comes out to be a must for Santiago de Cuba. More

The history was incredible. Make sure you have enough time to get a thorough tour. We didn't have enough time and would have liked to spend more time there. More

This fortress is strategically located at the entrance to the bay going into Santiago - it was built to defend against pirates of the Caribbean! Stunning view of the Caribbean from the battlements and striking angles and curves for the photographer. This was the first place we stopped at when the bus tour took us from the resort in Holguin...
