The temporary art gallery in one of the rooms allowed us to speak with the artist, get his spin on the history and purchase a modest little canvas painting to take home as a true memory of Cuba.

This was a great fort. It was not too restored so you still had the original feel. Its layout is quite complicated with a number of levels accessed by narrow uneven stairs. It is worth the effort to do some climbing. 10 CUC required to take pictures inside. You could just take them outside of the fort. There is a... More

Been there many times and always enjoyed the view of the Ocean and walking inside the Castle, it is like going back 100 years. The light house is also worth visiting and the best I managed to swim at "La Estrella" beach, beside the Castle, it was amazing to check how crystal clear and warm was the beach.

We visited this on a recent trip to Cuba and it was very interesting and we enjoyed our visit. It overlooks the sea and there is a nice place to eat and drink and soak up the atmosphere. There are also quite a number of craft stalls on the walk to the castle. If you are interested in very well... More

The reason for the name of the castle of death was that at one time this place was a prison and many of the inmates died. This castle is brilliant and the views from the walls is just awesome. Pay the $5.00 for the photos on the inside as you can't go wrong with fabulous views of the sea and... More

I enjoy walking around old dilapidated forts. Yes everything is in Spanish but get over it! Some interesting artifacts.

From up here you have some really stunning views across the city and the sea. The site itself is not very well maintained. The museum part is OK but not great.
