Impressive church!

Camaguey is worth visting for its art and culture as well as its many churches. I think it is called the "city of churches."

When going through the centre of Camagüey, take a few minutes to look inside this church. Not too ostentateous, some imposing statues and carvings.

Located at Plaza de los Trabajadores, it is Camagüey’s most distinguished church and at one point the largest in Cuba. The present church was erected in 1748 and later... More

If you are in Camaguey .Imposing well restored building in a pretty plaza .You enter the church through a garden .The main feature is the silver altar covered in silver coins which is very effective .

This is a beautiful church approached through a delightful garden. There is not charge for entrance or the guide but donations to the church funds are welcomed. The altar is magnificent and just to its right is a shimmering, multi-tiered coffin made from silver coins. Beneath the altar area is a tiny crypt.
