Good to take a walk. It is a broad esplanade, roadway and seawall which stretches for 8 km (5 miles) along the coast in Havana, Cuba.

Day or night, El Malecon is one of the nicest parts of Havana. I walked along El Malecon until the Hotel Nacional where you can visit the grounds and take pictures from the hill. The views are spectacular and there's always something going on.

Malecon is the pearl of Havanna. People gather there in the evening for watching the sunset. It is great for taking photos, walking or jogging. Dont miss it!

This is where people in Havana hang out, they call it the "sofa" of Havana because it's where everyone sits. During the daytime it can be very hot in Havana and the breeze coming off the water is refreshing. Watch out for sunburn, though, the sun reflecting off the cement and water can be fierce. In the evening, there's a... More

But there is nothing really to see but the sea. There are fishermen and their friends there and will try to get you to give them money. We had one guy go over and pick up a piece of lava and try to sell it to us. No statues, lights, or little vendors like in Mexico.

The huge boulevard is just magnificient. You see the water on one side with the waves crashing on the wall and the other side has various buildings in different stages of restoration. Lots of monuments of their leaders and a mémorial to those Marines who were killed when the Maine was sunk. People out there at night - talking and... More

This beautiful road provides a very picturesque view of the ocean and the city of Havana proper. Even in traffic it makes for a very pleasant ride around the city.

Crumbling beauty, waves crashing over the seawall, full of Cubans every night escaping the heat of their squalid apartments. This is a wonderful place. Impossible to forget.

Amazing to see howmany people get together at el malecon. It's not like there is a party going on but there is so much to see, especially when you can view the scene from the terrace of hotel nacional!

The first time you look at this place it looks quite run down and nothing like the romantic beach sidewalks you read about in guidebooks or what you'll find in other cities. Our Casa was on the Malecon, and over time you come to appreciate that it does have an odd air of melancholy and neglected beauty. The beautiful buildings... More
