Sara Alonso, the curator who gave us a guided tour of the museum, made the art history come alive for me. The architecture of the museum makes the art come alive. There is much to examine and see. The chronological layout helps a lot. Sara Alonso is smart, engaging and points out enough to entice one's curiousity.

Amidst the crumbling buildings of Old Havana is this very well kept collection of national art treasures. A comprehensive range of paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures to help you understand the developments of artistic practice from early colonial periods to present day. Very nice cafe with excellent value sandwiches, and the best toilets in Havana!
