One of the highlights of any trip to Havana is Papa Hemingway's Finca Vigia, located in a nondescript neighborhood of Havana. All of the rooms are open to view, but no one may enter...on display are his collections of books, trophies, and empty liquor bottles. A docent will take an up-close picture of his old Corona typewriter, if you so... More

Great peek into the life (and lifestyle) of Ernest Hemmingway. You're not allowed to enter, but from the ample open windows all around the house, you can get a very good look at his typewriter (he wrote standing up), his library, his collection of mounted animal heads (ugh) and even his bed and bathroom. Fascinating.

I have never read an Earnest Hemmingway book but I will be doing so after seeing the beautiful setting where he wrote. We had a private driver arranged for us by our rep from CubaDirect - he was fantastic and very knowledgable. He gave us the history of the areas we were passing through. As well as the history of... Wellknown homestead of Hemingway near Havana. Museum shows the house exactly as it was in Hemingways last day, nothing is changed or altered. You can not step inside the house, it is aloud only to take a look in through the windows and open doors. View from seeing tower towards the seashore and Havana is good and wide, easy to... More

Finca la Vigía is a bit of a taxi ride from Havana Vieja but should be under 10 CUC's. As usual, the admission price for foreigners is 25 times higher than for Cubans. The staff are friendly and the house is full of interesting details that make it easy to imagine living here back to the 50's. I am not... More

Before we visited Finca de Vigia we re-read Old Man and the Sea which was based on nearby Cojimar where Hemingway moored the Pilar. I don’t know if this influenced our visit to Hemingways’ home but we found it thoroughly interesting and enjoyable. As others have mentioned, one can clearly see the interior of the house through the open windows... More

Take a car and driver-you'll need him for your return trip. This is well worthwhile for Hemingway fans especially if you compare it with his house in Key West. Similar feel to it.

The house can be viewed via windows and panes of glass strategically placed, and normal velvet ropes. So viewing access is good, as are photography angels. The house has been kept as is, and its lovely. The grounds need some work but were still very pleasing to walk through. His boat has been repaired lovingly, and the pool area is... More

I really enjoyed our visit to Finca La Vigia. I like Hemingway, but I was more just impressed with the actual house since it is preserved as it was in the 50's. Seeing the old beds and all of the animal heads on the wall was really great. He also had some really great art on the walls. The view... More

If you a Hemingway fan, perhaps go. If not it is a moderate 1920s house with few features apart from a well stocked garden The rip off is $5CUC to use your camera....not as if there is much to photograph really, so think twice. Pleasant, but little more than that.
