Our school group went here a couple of times over the course of a week. It is well used by the locals and doesn't have a lot of amenities but the water is great and you can pretty much go anywhere on the beach - all public.

We love to go to this beach. You can take the T3 bus from Parc Central in Havana, and then back again - 5 CUC round trip. Sitting on the beach, you feel like you are in the middle of no where. My favourite place to have lunch is not actually on the main street (Avenida Aventura), it is about... More

If you don't have or want to take the longer trip over to Veradero (which we didn't want to) a good day beach option is Playas de Este. Within 1/2 hr. you are on the beaches. We went by bus from opposite the Inglaterra hotel in Viega for 5cuc per person. Santa Maria beach is the busiest but walk either... More

Havana's public beaches, simply great and just 20 min. by taxi. Try Playa Santa Maria, it's crowded but nice and if you want to escape from the crowd, just walk a bit further.

Enjoyed our day here. Paid a taxi 15 CUC to take us to Santa Maria and come back for us. The tourist bus had a scheduling problem and the conductor recommended we take a taxi. Lovely beach. There were a few jelly fish put there were official spotters who warned people and removed them. 6CUC for two lounge chairs and... More

Just minutes out of Havana are a string of beaches that offer a real taste of what Cubans experience when they head to the playa. The beaches are all beautiful and you can decide on which to visit based on whether you like more isolated areas or prefer those bustling with people. The Playas de Este are a far cry... More

The beach is beautiful! There a re chaise lounges for $2 CUC/day. Plenty of inexpensive refreshments. The water is beautiful! You can take a bus from old Havana for $5. Or you can barter with a taxi driver, this way you don't have to leave at a certain time. I highly recommend this beach!

On our fifth day in Havana, the weather began to improve slightly. The sun flashed occasionally and at times, the blue sky even appeared. It was time to check out what there was to the Havana’s beaches! We had neither the time nor the desire to take the four hour trip to Varadero. After all, have we not seen the... More

I took a bus (#T-3 from Parque Central - there is a sign with the bus # labelled on it, which is rare in Havana!) and it was only 5CUC round trip. Great value. Based on my guidebook description of the beaches, I was expecting exquisite beauty. Maybe if I hadn't had my hopes up I would've been happy, but... More

When people think of going to Cuba they certainly know about their beautiful, crystal clear beaches. Tourists think of Varadero not knowing that there are beaches of equal beauty in Havana. Unlike Varadero, there is much history and much to see in Havana. The food is cheaper in Havana and the beaches are a quick 20 minute drive. Traffic, as... More
