We were in Havana for a 1 week first time visit to Cuba. Did not want to do a resort holiday as we wanted to experience the real Cuba, but we also wanted some beach time too. The T3 tourist bus operates from Parque Central in city centre Havana to the beaches for 5 CUC per person return. Buses depart... More

I went to playa Santa Maria. The beach was very long. It is possible to find a quiet spot for oneself, or you can mingle with other tourists or locals. Seemed like there were a lot of activities to do, like: sailing, kiting etc.

Whole series of beach areas each about 40 mins from Havana by bus. Or stay in adjacent hotels. Sprinkling of bars. No public toilets but the sea is handy and warm! Beach umbrella and two chairs 4Gbp per day. Safe for children but need lots of. Sun screen.

When you read about the beaches, it is not just one beach! It has different spots with the same access (the bus T3 at the Central Park right in front of the Hotel Inglaterra will take you there for 5 CUCs). My favorite beach is Tarara, a very quiet and calm clean and beautiful sea awaits for you! Great place,... More

This area comes to life in the evening or during siesta time. Lots of young people gather and the atmosphere is very lively with lots of typical music from radios and other devices. A few tourists were about but not many during the time we were around the resort.

A short bus ride from Habana Viaje. I think it cost us 5cuc return each. Beach was lovely & clean. You could get off at several stops. There was a kiosk/cafe/bar near our stop & tamales sold on the beach & strolling musicians. Very relaxing. The northern beaches of Cuba are nicer than the southern beaches & have no jellyfish.... Paid $25 for taxi to take us there and pick us up 4 hours later. Worked out perfect and driver dropped us off where we wanted on the return. Cheap bus goes there but takes way too long.

It is a great place to escape Havana. The long beach was a great place to walk and go for a swim. It was very quiet as we choose to travel out- side the peak season. Great restaurants and bars and close enough to Havana for day trips via taxi.
