A stunning piece of architecture which is currently under repairs and very reminiscent of many government buildings across the world. It's hard to miss this building when in Havana, especially since the dome peeks out to stare at you from many of the narrow streets of Old Havana.

Similar to the U.S. Capitol building but as the people in Habana will tell you, its a few inches taller. We passed by it on a walk through the city but did not get to enter as it was under construction.

Went here as part of a walking tour through the city. The building, from the outside, is so impressive and looks huge!! Once inside we were able to walk around a bit and view some artifacts (the giant gold statue was unbelievable!) but quite a lot of areas were closed off completely or were undergoing works. As a result of... More

This Havana landmark is currently closed for renovations, but still worth viewing from either street level or from the roof top pool/restaurant of the Hotel Saratoga. It resembles the US Capitol in Washington, DC but has not actually been the Cuban capitol since 1960.

Built at the end of the twenties by a dictator whose name we don't even wanted to catch. A copy, no less, of the American Capitol in DC, but with its 92 m high dome just a little bit higher. Ha. If only to say this is the easiest landmark to find your way back, coming from the old centre,... More

rom urban point of view it's really nice city. I was little bit surprised because there were only "a several" peaople here in the city. It was not so hard to go anywhere because of long queues and also the streets were "airy". In front of the Capitolio you can see a lot of old "carros americanos" :) It was... More

Since 2011 I have been going to Havana and during these 4 years I have always wanted to visit The Capitolio. I'm told it's an impressive building. It certainly is from the outside. But since I've been going it has always been closed for renovations. Here's an idea...how about renovating one section at a time so that tourists could at... More

A magnificent building to see, but unfortunately for us it was closed for restoration at the time of our visit. Makes for some brilliant photos though with the classic cars going by

We never went inside as it was still undergoing renovations. it certainly has an impressive exterior and I am sure it is worth while a look on the outside. It may open up one day but don't hold your breath.
