I first visited La Bodeguita del Medio (Hemingway's home of the Mojito) over fifteen years ago and even then it was a popular destination for tourists. Now, however, it has become a regular stop for large groups of tourists on the accompanied tours of Havana. Both the ambience and the quality of the mojitos have diminished as troops of tourists... Although it can get very crowded, I loved the atmosphere inside the bodeguita especially when one of the live bands was playing. It's a great place to make new friends and soak up the atmosphere. I returned a couple of times and ended up enjoying a good Cuban cigar ( even though I stopped smoking a long time ago) and... More

While in Cuba, this is the biggest MUST DO. The best mojito I ever had and the vibration of the place made the experience even better. While there, make sure you entry on your left. There are plenty of tables in the back, but the front of the bar is alway crowded. We had lunch there too. It was really... More

We visited the bar at the front. This is very small, with 8 bar stools, room for a band and not much else. We arrived as it was opening and so secured two bar stools which we occupied for several hours while a superb 4 piece “Son” band (Sol y Son) played. The Mojitos were good, although not the cheapest... More

Being a tourist trap, the drinks are overpriced at 5 CUC for a mojito. The bar area is is tiny, but the feel is more personal and intimate than at El Floridita, Bodeguita has an excellent atmosphere, with a three piece band playing and singing loudly a foot or two away from you. Hemingway's other favorite watering hole in Havana.... More

Well worth the visit. So small (although if it's too small for you go to the back rooms) that everyone is crammed in tight but enjoying the atmosphere, history and even a three piece band??!! It's like being in a Dublin bar - like Guinness they line the Mojitos up to finish off to the constant orders. (They do other... More

My companion didn't want to tackle the crowd at the bar in front, but take the left side and head back to the rooms (and there's an upstairs), to eat some good food, even a bit less expensive than the private paladares. While you're waiting for your food, take a look at photos of just about everyone who has visited... More

I do not understand why will people pay 5 CUC to drink a mojito in this place. Elsewhere you can get it for 1,5 to 2 CUC and much, much better.

Touristly, but still, a mojito at this bar is a must if you want to walk in Hemingway´s foot steps! Crowded yes but with great music and ambience!

We went back to this bar three times throughout our visit. We ended up going upstairs as the main floor bar was always way too crowded. Upstairs was really fun. The musicians upstairs were great and energetic. The drinks were good and we felt welcome. Although it is really touristy, we still felt that we were part of an amazing... More
