We booked a set lunch at El Floridita on 2nd June 2009. When we arrived we were shown to an unmade table (I brushed the crumbs off the tablecloth as the waiter just put new cutlery and glasses down without clearing them). As we had already chosen the set lunch The Maitre d' didn't have to take our order -... more

Yes, it is very touristy but just has to be done. We went for a Daquiri at about 5pm after spending a full day walking in the sun around the Old Town of Havana. The A/C was much appreciated and the Daquiri was lovely. I would have to say it was a high point of our visit to Havana. We... more

Much the same as La Bodeguita del Medio, as in it only really attracts the tourists. I prefered it to La Bodeguita del Medio, as it was nice to get into some Air conditioning after walking around Havana in the midday heat! As they do in LaBdM they seemed to have plenty of Daquiris ready to serve. Was nice inside... more

The idea is that this bar has Hemmingway folklore appeal. If he was alive today he would be disgusted (I think) to see tour groups turn up and the staff to make Daquiris for them, using only half a bottle of the cheapest Rum and a packet of 'Oingo Boingo' (or it's Cuban equivalent) fruit juice 'taste' drink. This between... more

Visited this establishment for their famous "daiquiri's" and enjoyed so much booked to return for dinner. Ernest Hemingway obviously never actually ate in this place, merely propped up the bar (which his sculpture still does!!) The food was inedible. Lobster could not be cut with a steak knife! Sent food back but no apology. The worst £100 I have ever... more

I wanted lunch and a few good drinks but couldn't get in it was so crowded. Every chair was full and it felt like New York. Walked to the Conde de Villanueva instead and had a spectacular lunch instead: pork roll filled with pineapple and mango covered with mango sauce, the best congri to be had, and wonderful drinks -... more

This was one of the main targets in visiting Havana (I’m a Hemingway fan) and boy were we disappointed. We visited once for cocktails. The daiquiris were excellent. Then we went back for dinner - big mistake. It is hard to say which was worse; the food or the service. The service was arrogant and unfriendly and the food was... more

Visited on a warm Saturday night in March after making reservations for dinner and were amazed at the international collection of independant business women occupying many of the seats at the bar. It was nice to see that the doorman made sure that the clients did not out number the call girls plying thier trade in this famous site. And... more
