You can go there by the Hop on Hop off bus, stops at all the hotels and only costs 5 CUC for all day (it last quite a while, we had to travel for an hour). I have not been on the excursion, maybe the trip there would have been better. The beach is really lovely, clear water and there is... More

Visited Playa Pilar in December and although the sand was beautiful we were somehow disappointed. We saw rather small, overcrowded and must say dirty beach. Water had amazing colour and sand was like powder. Unfortunately seaweed was scattered everywhere (i know it's natural but this should be cleaned), you could find lots of plastic cups and cigarettes buds. Sun beds... More

We have been to Cuba (Cayo coco & Cayo Guillermo) 7 times. Each time we say we want to visit Playa Pilar. This time, in November we finally went. There's no doubt in my mind the water (beach) is beautiful. HOWEVER, the service in the restaurant and bar are terrible. We bought a package through the Sunwing rep at our... More

White sand, crystal water, wonderful beach and nature! Definitely worth to go! Unfortunately they are building a new Hotel nearby, which means more tourists, more lounger that spoil de view… If you walk towards the end of the beach, you can see a lot of garbage, definitely not caused by tourists… I also saw some Cubans taking lot of starfish’s... We travelled to Pilar Beach on the open top bus from our hotel in Cayo Coco; the trip took about an hour as we picked up from 5 or 6 other hotels on our way down. There is quite a long walk from the drop off point to the beach down a gang plank type walkway. This is perfectly fine... More

We took the double Decker bus from the resort because I've read about it being a place to visit while in the area. The bus ride itself was like riding a catamaran it rocked and rolled. We sat on top to the beach and on the bottom on the way back. Obviously more rocky on top but still rocky on... More

What a gem-gorgeous beach that stretches for ever. This is a public beach that is reachable via public transportation at a cost of 5 convertible pesos per adult return. Loungers under shade are available for a nominal $2 per day. There is a restaurant/bar on site but quite a trek from the beach. My advice is to bring your own... More
