We enjoyed seeing this park again. It is a great photo op for birds and lizards and some interesting and unspoiled land. Great wave action also. The museum was also nice. We... read more

Boca Slagbaai is actually the name of the rest stop/ restaurant/ bar you will find out in the middle of nowhere in Washington Slagbaai National Park, Bonaire. With nothing but iced beverages in coolers, a gas grill and fryer, and a small solar panel, this little establishment is capable of satisfying the desire for cold beers, and a tasty lunch.... More

An off road trip, rough nature, rough shore's and a wild sea. Such beauty! Halfway we took our mask and snorkel and relaxed at the christal clear blue water of wakaya II. What a magnificent place! Went for lunch at Boca Slagbaai on the end of our trip. Sitting outside with a tasty chicken sandwich, enjoying the sea sights or the... More

We drove up there to hike but they won't allow you to if you arrive after noon. So we drove the long route. Yes, the roads are bumpy and you go for stretches of seeing only cactus, dirt roads and mountains, but the first 3 stops on the route were breathtaking! It's a completely different perspective of the island. The... More

Four of us drove to Boca Slagbaai to scuba dive. "The drive is rough in parts but provides great photo ops. We found the site beautiful; a crescent shaped cove with white sand beach flanked by rock cliffs. The location had several buildings including a small restaurant serving simple sandwiches and drinks and a restroom. The diving was great and... More

THE BEST BONAIRE DIVING!!! The diving in the park requires an early start and a long drive, but this is the most unspoiled diving on the entire island. Plus, being towards the tip of the island, here you are more likely to spot larger marine life. My favorite dive site in the park is Playa Benge, this is where we... More

This was a rough ride in our little rental car. Once we found the right road to the park gate, we took the long route around the northern most reaches of the island. The scenery in Bonaire is arid and harsh. Kind of like riding around sections of the big island in Hawaii except you are standing on dead coral... More

But unfortunately I was driving so I couldn't just wake up 90 minutes later once we arrived at something to see. If you get motion sick, don't bother - the road will invite you to hurl. THe waves were high, I got pulled under and cut my leg on a sharp rocks. IMHO, not worth my time and my injury.

We entered the park and decided to take the long route........2 1/2 hours....mistake! With map in hand we checked out each spot....blow holes, playas, bocas, old structures, salt ponds, and a small natural spring with a decaying dead goat in it! The road was rough, with pot holes, cactus, and a few goats and lizards. We checked out the location... More

We have been to the park several times. The roads are dirt tracks and are fun to drive around and there are some beautiful and interesting points around both the short and long routes. There are some lovely sandy beaches which are normally empty and some great dive sites on the west coast. This is a great place to spot... More
