This factory of gourmet chocolate bars is tucked away in a port warehouse, easily accessible to cruise visitors. The manager, Derrick, imports the finest flavor cocoa from Grenada, Dominican Republic and Venezuela to make rich dark chocolate bars which are sold at a good discount under supermarket prices. Reservations are needed for a rout limited to 15 who a given... More

Went to tour this small chocolate factory and was very pleasantly surprise. The owner provided great insight and knowledge in regards to the ingredients and making high quality chocolate. The chocolate available for purchase is a must as its quality and taste is wonderful. I highly recommend this tour but it must be scheduled in advance since it is given... More

If you are a lover of dark chocolate, this is not to be missed. You are in a very small group and he walks you though the process from bean to final product, while tasting and learning throughout the process. He only produces dark chocolate and the rum and coconut rum filled chocolates are just heavenly. Tip--this is just a... More

This is a family business which deserves its international following of true chocolate lovers. Derrick's engineering background adds a very unique expertise to the experience. Got the reservations online as I heard he only does tours certain days and only ten people maximum. Got off the cruise ship and walked easily about ten minutes and his pictures help and along the way I asked other locals for Colgate Palmolive building and was going in the right direction. Arrived about five minutes late but did not... More

We did this tour in January and thought it was wonderful. Having been in Barbados many times before, we were pleasantly surprised at this 'hidden gem'. We learned so much about making chocolate, and the tastings were both instructional and sweet. The Rum Caramel is to die for! My husband & I bought lots of bars and will be back... More

If you want to see the passion that small producers put into their business and products, then you should visit Agapey. Every machine has been chosen and built with such care. The products, process and marketing have all been painstakingly built up over the past 3-4 years. Agapey chocolate is now a luxury brand across the island. Slightly tucked away... More

A really great and informative short tour about the process of producing a great bar of chocolate. The host was entertaining and described it in laymans terms. A fascinating morning and his chocolate is delicious

... but after taking the tour of this charming, artisanal factory, just a short walk from the cruise ship pier, you'll feel like an expert. Beginning with fermented cacao seeds (they're seeds you know, not beans) and blond Barbados cane sugar, they do it all in this well-equipped, small warehouse including roasting, shelling, winnowing, crushing, conching, and tempering. You'll find... More

We did this tour in Dec. 2014 as part of our time in Barbados on a cruise. They provide directions by email that they direct you to print and bring along (definitely do so!). It's a quick 10 minute walk from the cruise terminal, and very doable with the directions. The owner-operator is a fantastic guide and the experience was... More
