Couldn't decide on an excursion for Barbados so we decided to book at Agapey Chocolate Factory and walk up from the pier. The tour is not only informative, but in small groups extremely interactive. You learn the difference in the sugar used to sweeten.,.origin and properties of beans. Derrick also runs you through the process of making chocolate...from the roasting... More

This is definitely not your usual tour in the caribbean like the beaches, snorkeling or restaurants, although that's why I love the islands. The chocolate factory tour really takes you back to where and what chocolate is all about and just the pure essence of chocolate. Very educational and tastey! I think it's history in the making for this chocolatier.... More

We toured the Agapey Chocolate Factory April 18, 2012 while on a cruise. The directions to the factory was clear and it is close to the ship terminal. The tour was just okay and wished I had skipped it. More

He's not Willy Wonka, but Derrick does a nice job explaining the chocolate making process and we got to sample various types of cocoa beans and chocolates. Easy walk from the cruise docks with the map he sends, but even the locals didn't seem to know of its existence. No. 1? I don't know; but a nice little tour at... More

Tucked away but easy to find. Tours can only be booked in advance, with a maximum of 11 per tour. The owner shows you how the chocolate is made and we had a tasting session of ingredients used. Chocolate can be bought at a reduced price. Really interesting and such a friendly chap! More

This tour is the hidden surprise of Bridgetown. We arrived for our tour, and were concerned that we had the wrong place, because it was Good Friday, and everything was closed. This place is a little off the beaten path. Our tour was conducted by the owner, and we learned that he and one other person make all the chocolate.... More

Sometimes the 'hole in the wall' places are the best finds and this is definitely true about Agapey Chocolate Factory. Tucked in the back of the building, is a warehouse that produces the best tasting, best smelling chocolate bars made from local products!! And we got to see and taste the process from start to finish! Derek is a knowledgeable,... More

Booked a tour (essential they don't do many, there is a maximum of 11 people per tour, and it's near the cruise terminal so it's very popular with cruise passengers). My husband had a really bad hangover from the previous nights 'roots and rhythms' evening, so i wasn't sure whether to go on my own. I'm glad i did, it... More

Thank you Derek for taking the time to educate our group of 11 on chocolate from the cocoa bean to processing. We were all amazed that Derek is pretty much a one-man show. As he says, "he washes the dishes too". To know that he made most of the machines or re-tooled them and makes the chocolate and packages them... More

Took this chocolate factory tour while in port after reading about it on TripAdvisor. Hard to find, even the taxi driver had to ask for directions. Had a picture of the building from the web page and someone recognized the building and gave the driver directions. Entrance is at the rear of the building and above the entrance door was... More
