We walked to this tour from the cruise port. Derrick showed us his two room factory and all the equpment he uses to roast, shell, press and extract chocolate. We watched a girl pour bars into a mold and got to taste different types of chocolate beans, sugars and finished product. Chocolate bars are discounted to $5 each if you... More

I recently took my 15 year old son on a Southern Caribbean cruise vacation and Barbados was one of our stops. When doing my research beforehand I stumbled upon Agapey Chocolate Factory and decided to book it for us. I just though it sounded unique and it was reasonably priced at $18. Additionally, it left us with plenty of time... More

That man is Derrick who owns, runs and does tours of his dark chocolate making kingdom. Definitely worth an hour and a half if your time to show you all about the makings of dark chocolate. Plenty sampling and a chance to buy discounted product at the end. Found Derrick an intresting guide and wish him all the best for... More

The tour leader (I don't remember him even telling us his name!) was a real JERK, had an attitude and was very sarcastic. Any question I asked had a smart-mouthed answer. He totally ignored a suggestion that I made in the group setting. And we paid money for this tour! The chocolate was OK. I told various other people where... More

My wife and I are glad we took this tour. The chocolate is amazing! We did this tour and the Mount Gay Rum lunch tour on the same day. The rum lunch tour includes transportation. We arranged for them to pick us up at Agapey (we took a taxi to Agapey); Mount Gay will take you back to your resort... More

We really enjoyed this tour. The owner did a great job of explaining the ingredients and process of chocolate making. My husband peppered him with questions concerning the business end of things, which Derrick kindly answered. I enjoyed his clear and informative presentation; subtle, dry humor...and of course, the chocolate.

If you love chocolate this is the place to go! A really informative tour and Derrik has a very dry sense of humour which was really entertaining. You leave knowing at least 2 facts, how chocolate gets it's flavor and how it is so smooth! Great to buy products which were discounted and so everyone on our tour took advantage!... More

This is a must tour for those who want to understand chocolate making and those who like chocolates. Unlike other chocolate factory tours we attended, this one is given by the owner and takes place where he and his one employee actually make chocolates. The presentation starts by discussing and tasting the various kinds of chocolate beans, where they are... More

A tour of the Agapey chocolate factory is a must. The owner and founder of the factory conducts the tour and he is very personable and gives a very informative tour of his small factory. Your are able to buy his dark chocolate bars for a reasonable price at the end of the hour-long tour. Book in advance as the... More
