Although the cathedral of Bridgetown, it does need to have work done it and this is being done. Outside looked very tired but when back up to scratch should appear to be as attractive a building as it deserves

I have gone to church here regularly for many years. The architecture is beautiful but sadly the ageing building is not showing its best face. The church has been under renovations for the past few years. Still, Anglican services continues here every Sunday and Wednesday. The graves of some very famous Barbadians and colonial soldiers are situated at this church....

Just as you approach thinking "what a shame it's so shabby" you might be lucky enough to catch the beauty of a service in full flow and the glimpses of (mainly older) Barbadians in Sunday best (it was a Wednesday), including hats, and singing traditional hymns. A lovely reminder of what these buildings are genuinely about and a welcome respite...

Unique in the West Indies, I suspect. Modest building externally, but a cathedral-scale barrel roof and galleries inside. Not especially set up for tourist visits - we went at the end of Sunday service (great singing in the Anglican tradition) - but many sculptural wall plaques inside and interesting tombstones outside, recording the overseas British community and "worth a visit".
is church people go and worship in the church , church open for any any body are welcome to the church
Although now in need of major repairs this is still a very impressive building.Just past the House of Assembly on the same side of the road and again in Bridgetown former Prime Minister of Barbados Tom Adams is buried within the churchyard.
We arrived not knowing what to expect and from the other side of the church a voice said " Hello welcome to St Michael´s feel free to enjoy our church "
The Cathedral is very simple and very beautiful and sums up the simplicity of the time of building.
The vicar siad that they were hoping to have a explanation...

Lovely church on the outskirts of Bridgetown. Beautiful inside with interesting plaques and the graveyard is full of 19th century memorials and mausoleums. One of which was built by my ancestors and is shaded by a magnificent breadfruit tree. Well worth a visit.
Having travelled extensively found a church is a church and was not overly interested in it while on a bus tour of the island.
The structure of the cathedral and the history were impressive. It was also very open, which allowed my wife and I to do some exploring.
