Reading the brochure it seemed like a place to visit. It mentioned taking a simulation of a dive into deep water. This was more like an elevator with a TV with the resolution from the 1980s. Snow image. Juvenile graphics and horrible sound. Kid on the "ride" were bored and we're asking how long is this. Then the other "great"... More

Both adults and children can learn a lot from this establishment, but I think children would be more eager to learn from the way much of it is presented. I did not enjoy picking up telephone handsets (which no-doubt thousands of people have handled before me) to listen to audio on some displays. I did enjoy the displays on shipwrecks,... More

We visited the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (the BUEI) in Hamilton, Bermuda in the AM. They open at 10 AM and their senior rate is $12 per person. In September when we visited, they had a wonderful Lionfish Exhibit - where we learned a lot about how invasive they are to sea life. Next there was a massive shell collection... More

I would suggest about an hour is going to cover the basics of this museum, maybe longer if you have a particular interest. It is a pleasant environment and cool with effective air conditioning. The displays are well spaced out and have some good clear descriptions. There are many child friendly displays with buttons and levers. They provide leaflets to... More

So cool! We had such a great time. Not only are there separate exhibits but also tours every 15 minutes on the 15's. Truly a wonderful place to visit. Much to do, doesn't matter what age. It's amazing to see artifacts that are over 600 years old and some are coral encrusted!

The Underwater Exploration Institute was a diamond in rough. It gave a great picture of the underwater life around Bermuda. Also the history of the waters. It was presented in a way for both adults and children. There was even a simulated dive to add to the adventure.

After reading about BUEI in a tour book, we decided to go there. It's not a huge museum, but it does have an impressive collection of shells and "treasure" from shipwrecks. We enjoyed seeing the various underwater diving vehicles that have been used over time. The invasion of lionfish and their effect on the ecosystem was well explained. We expected... More

I really enjoyed the exhibits that were here. They had something for everyone...kids too! I enjoyed the shells and the treasure recovery areas the most. The "underwater" ride was cute...I am sure that kids really enjoy that. It was of particular interest to me the explanations in the Tucker treasure recovery area. There were two references to the "Real Eight"... More

The Tour Representative at our hotel (Grotto Bay) recommended this place. We took the bus up to it. Bus system really good. Just tell the bus driver where you want to go and they let you know when they get there. The price for senior's was $5.00. Shows you the first bell shape underwater vehicle to go underwater all the... More
