For those in St. G., thumbs up. For those on the south shore, stay there. Further north another less well known small beach is similarly pretty and less well-known, just west of the fort.

This is a wonderful beach and snorkeling area. But you need to go early in the day and when there aren't any cruise ships. If you go when a cruise ship is docked in St. George's it will feel as if the cacophony of the pool deck has moved to the beach! And forget it when it comes to snorkeling....

My husband went to Tobacco Bay Beach during the very end of the off season so I think we benefitted from nice weather and a pretty empty beach. The water was a little too chilly for me to enjoy the snorkeling but my husband loved the clean water! There is a cafe/snack bar on the beach and beach rentals but...

The beach area was small and can tend to become overcrowded when the cruise shippers are unloaded from the ferry in town. The walk is about 8km from St. Georges but well worth it. Buzz Coffee operates a full service snack shop which...

Excellent snorkelling--very accessible with lots of tropical fish and even lobsters just off the beach. The beach itself is nothing much, but you can rent a deck chair, umbrella and snorkelling equipment. There is also a little restaurant and gift store.
