Cool bar that's almost 75 years old. It has a Captain Toney or Sloppy Joes kind of feel to it. It's not huge but has lots of character and memorabilia from all over the world. On... read more

Cool bar that's almost 75 years old. It has a Captain Toney or Sloppy Joes kind of feel to it. It's not huge but has lots of character and memorabilia from all over the world. On the other side of the Island from all the tourist hotels but if you are in the area it's a great place for a... More

Historic bar, perhaps the original "Friday's" with the decor. Good ribs, great beer selection. Tough to find but worth trip from Eagle Beach.

We went to Charlie's Bar one weekday afternoon and we had a relaxing experience. The bartenders are friendly and we got to meet Charlie's grandson. Get the small beer on tap so it stays cold. I read the book An Island Away and I must say visiting here for the third time was just like a chapter out of the... More

Came here 15 years ago and did it because it was the thing to do. Did it again 15 years later with my fiance and the same results..Over bearing ignorant racist co owner bald guy whom believed talking politics about americans and there rudeness was more important than getting business from this american whom is laid back and last thing... Dear Sir, with all due respect but we thinks that your review is in violation of the trip advisor review guidelines. This is clearly a personal attack based on a prejudiced opinion. Politics is often a sensitive subject specially when having different perspectives. Being part of such a diverse ethnical community I doubt anyone would make it any far being... More

This bar is very unique! We had great service and the bartender had awesome stories to share about Aruba, their customs and culture! We stopped in on our way to Baby Beach!

We stopped in for drinks before the Carubbean festival in San Nicholas. We enjoyed our drinks and the staff, including Charlie. Didn't have food because we were grabbing it from the street vendors. It is a bit shady for location and there isn't much in the downtown area. But we found the drinks good and the staff interesting and enjoyed... More

We stopped at Charlie's in San Nicholas after a trip to Baby Beach. We had been reading "An Island Away" and one of the places mentioned frequently was Charlie's Bar. We looked around, talked to people and had some ice cold Balashi and fried calamari. The calamari was GREAT! We met Herr Koch from the book and he was a... More

Went to Charkues in late afternoon with a group....beer was nice and cold, decor more than a wee bit interesting, locals around bar also interesting. The bartenders were friendly and very informative about historical aspects of this part of Aruba. I would definitely go back again and tell others to have the experience, however I do not think it would... More

Worth a visit if you're not squeamish and you enjoy exploring places that are off-the-beaten-path. Charlie's is packed with character and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There isn't a section of wall or ceiling that doesn't have something to look at. Food is average and prices are high. Also note that the bar is in a sketchy location.... More
