Lighthouse built in 1913 not open to public for inside viewing. Restoration to start soon which will make a great attraction in Aruba.

This lighthouse was built around 1914 or 1915. It was named after the steamship California which was wrecked along the rocky shore in 1891. It stands almost 90 feet high. This part of the island is very barren. The hill where it stands allows great views of the north coast, the sand dunes and also toward the high rise hotel area.... More

Nice piece of Arubian (?) history. It was charming. Would hate to see it go away, could use some restoration to keep the tourists coming.

We stayed in Aruba on our honeymoon and loved it. We were told you can pretty much drive around the island on the beach the whole way. We rented a Jeep and took off. They do not have the weird, unpredictable and expensive insurance regulations there like Mexico and other Carribean Islands. The road ended just past Palm Beach and... More

We took the bus to Arashi beach and walked around and up to the lighthouse (took a little over half hour). The views are amazing and so different so the busy'ness of the other beaches. The top of the island is so rugged - and then the view of the dunes come into view. It was amazing. We were the... More

The views here are good, but the lighthouse is old and tired. They are about to completely refurbish it for its 100th anniversary -- 2015.

We rented a car and drove around the island. We stopped at the lighthouse which has a beautiful view, as does the restaurant that is located there. There is a truck that is located there selling coconut water, shaved ice, etc. We were disappointed that we could not go into the lighhouse.

Take a trip over to see the lighthouse, we were with a 1/2 day tour, but this was a great way to see lots of sights. The lighthouse is a great spot to start a tour of the "rougher/rockier" side of the island.

Nothing special as far as lighthouses go. But again the stories our guide Richie provided make it very interesting.

A great view of the island and ocean are capable from the grounds. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public so if you are someone who enjoys climbing etc. this one is not for you. We took a banana bus and the driver was great. Friendly and full of information he made the trip fun. You can go... More
