Were able to get in for free during Sailing Week. The museum, although small, really had put forth some great effort and displays. We enjoyed reading about the history of the area and seeing the buildings. Most are souvenir shops, but there is an active bakery in the old bakery. We enjoyed surveying the racing sailboats and yachts and spent... More

Nelson's Dockyard encapsulates so much of what the priorities for the sailing nations of Europe in the 1790s-1850s were all about in both the Caribbean and Europe. The effort that must have gone into building up this superb Naval Dockyard - given the climate and the times - just beggars belief! More

The buildings have been maintained very nicely and it is worth stopping in at the museum to have an appreciation for the historical significance of the location. I was disappointed that most of the building had been turned into resturants and souvenir shops. We were not there to eat or shop so our visit was shorter than anticipated. The cost... More

I know this is the thing to see on Antigua, but we weren't too impressed. You pay $8USD to get in and it's mostly gift shops, restaurants, and a hotel. Some cool historic buildings and you get to see the nice sailboats up close, but we didn't find it to be anything too exciting. More

Tourist trap, maybe, but if you like the historic sites when vacationing then this is a must. Most of the historic buildings have been transformed into some kind of gift shop or restaurant. There is a museum that has some artifacts and some information about the site. The bakery was supposed to be something to try but as this was... More

Stop and have lunch at the Admiral's Inn and see very BIG yachts and historic buildings from the 18th Century. Make sure to go around lunch time or later in the day after the crowds. The resorts/cruise ships taxi people in from St. John's. More

Watch out on entering. There are people at the entrance who ask for a fee. DO NOT PAY. Just ignore them and walk around the side if need be. It seems that they con mainly cruise-ship passengers into a donation, after which, they are led into a small souvenir area. The nearest bank was just inside so we weren't going... More

The restorations here are very nice and it's nice to take a break form all the beaches with a stop at a historic site. We also enjoyed sitting in the tiny dockside bar and watching crews at work on the yachts. (The bar is back behind the official buildings where yachters show their passports.) More
