If you are visiting Antigua for the first time, be sure and go to Shirley Heights for the view. It overlooks Nelson's Dockyard--breathtaking. The food for dinner is so-so, but you are going for the scenic view. Jewelry (booths) at this sightseeing area is all made by local ladies--great buys!

Go on a Sunday evening for atmosphere with steel bands, food and craft market $8 entry but worth that alone for the stunning sunsets that you get with views over the English Harbour

This is a must-see for Sunday late afternoon and evening. Steel band, rum cocktails, decent BBQ and some superb views over English Harbour. Stay as late as you can and enjoy the music and vibe.

Not to be missed is Shirley Heights on Sundays! Hotels will drive you to Shirley Heights for a evening of music, food, meet the whole of Antigua locals, and making new friends, plus watching the sunset. You will experience the true music and the friendiness of the locals. But, instead of having the hotel take you there where pick-up time... More

Loved the celebration of the sunset. Beautiful overlook of Nelson Dockyards and the steel drum band is excellent.

Every Sunday, they have a little party up at Shirley Heights where there's food, drinks, and live music. We got there with enough time to situate yourself for the sunset, and it was magnificent. There was a live steel drum band and they were a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it there. It also over looks Nelson's Dockyard and... More

A fantastic view over the harbour and a wide range of food and drink on offer . Main problem as obviously a major attraction is that the place is packed and you need to get there early if you want a seat . Despite that great atmosphere with stell bands and the main singing group later in evening ,

We took the advice of TripAdvisor reviewers, and arrived before 4:00 on Sunday. Charged $8.00 per person for admission. BBQing was in progress, and steel band setting up. We chose picnic table under cover halfway between smoke and sound. There was a selection of meats from the BBQ plus salads. Prices reasonable. By 4:30 - 4:45 is was getting crowded.... More

Shirley Heights overlooks English harbour .Every Sunday there is a afternoon/evening social gathering of visitors with live bands and BBQ food cooked in front of you. Listen to the drums, enjoy BBQ food and then settle in for live rock band. Try and arrive close to 4pm by taxi - parking can be difficult and taxi is about $5 return.... More

We visited Shirley Heights for lunch during an island tour with Sean of VIP tours. The jerk chicken and salad was superb - especially when washed down with a large rum punch, but unlike the 1750s when the heights were of strategic importance in protecting the great natural harbour below, now the the principal attraction of course is the view...
