Yes it is a tourist trap and yes you can watch the sunset anywhere but a Sunday on Shirley Heights is special. We arranged our on taxi and the driver stayed with us so we could leave when we wanted. I would have loved to stay longer but it was my birthday and we had a meal arranged back at... More

Our taxi driver told us this place on a Sunday night is the place to go. Wish I had not listened to him! The expectation was of a tradition Caribbean party, reality different. Shirley Heights is the old fort that protected Nelson's Harbour. It has stunning views and it is a great place to watch the sun go down. Once... More

I went to Shirley Heights about 10 years ago and loved it. This time our Hotel offered a trip from 3 to 7pm but we decided to make our own way there from 7 to 10pm to get the best of the Caribbean music and atmosphere. We were bitterly disappointed when the local music stopped at 7 and a band... More

The views from up here we're simple stunning. I wouldn't suggest going on a Sunday as it's very busy. To be able to appreciate the scenery and views go up on a different day and make sure you take a camera you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic bands and atmosphere. On arrival at Shirley heights the steel band is playing while you watch the setting sun from on high. There is also lovely BBQ food, not cheap but plenty to share. After dark the most amazing band comes on that plays all the hits with a reggae twist, lead vocals being shared by two talented ladies.... More

This is quite a touristy attraction that you have to pay an entry fee to get to the top of the look out. Its a great place and view to watch the sunset but personally after arriving by our own transport we left and drove to another secluded beach to see the sunset. if this is the only trip you... More

Visited Shirley Heights on a Sunday night. Had a fantastic time. The steel pan band was amazing and got people dancing. The music after was also good, left at just before 8pm so didn't see it all. Food and drink was good. Views were brilliant. Would highly recommend a trip here on a Sunday night.

Went on our second night on the island, Sunday sunset event. Trip there was a great way to see some of island outside of our resort. On entering you hear the beat of the steel band, then the stunning view presents itself, with a very strong rum cocktail in hand you can easily while away a few hours waiting for... More
