We arrived here from the our cruise ship.It was about a 10 to 15 minute drive and we were surprised how busy the beach was.It is located along the coastline where Sandal's is situated. The water is crystal clear and the beach is clean. There are water activities but the chairs were hard to come by.We used our towels to sit on.There... If you enjoy a relaxing day at the beach away from the noise and crowds of the more popular beaches this is your spot. I rented a condo "Barrymore Beach Apartments" on the beach with my kids and girlfriend for 4 days. During my time i don't think i seen more than 3 or 4 other people on the beach.... More

While exploring the island by hire car we happened upon Runaway Beach and Mystic Bar and Grill. Inside is clean, cheerful and freshly decorated by new owners (since November 2013). Restaurant opens onto one of the most beautiful beaches on Antigua. Food is very good, reasonably priced and service friendly and timely. Good beach facilities with changing rooms, showers modestly... More

We have been visiting this beach for many years while cruising. Major improvements have been made since November, 2013. New owner. New beach bar, called Mystic Beach Bar. New lounge chairs and umbrellas. No cover charge. $5.00 for chairs. $8.00 for umbrella, and you get a free rum punch! Nice bar, good service. Changing rooms and restrooms. Outdoor showers. Ten... Runaway beach at Runaway Beach Resort is a very quiet and nice beach to visit in Antigua. A $10.00 cab fare for 4 from cruise dock. We did not use the uniformed (same colored T shirts) agents at entry of town but used an independent driver for less $. We have always done this and never had a problem in... More

Landing in St. John's from Oriana my wife and I wanted to spend the day relaxing on a quiet beach. We shared a cab with 2 other couples who had discovered the beach on a previous visit. It was just what we were looking for; a beautiful beach full of rustic charm. A quiet bar with friendly staff serving drinks... More

We just returned from a cruise with a stop over in Antigua. After reading SEVERAL wonderful great reviews about this place, this was definitely on my list as a MUST. There were 8 adults in total in our group so off we went. When I mentioned it to the taxi driver, he said it's run down. I said well I... More

Runaway Beach was just a short walk from our hotel on Dickensen Bay, so one afternoon we decided to stroll over and take a look. Didn't like what we saw. A lot of litter (even a junk car) in the bushes at the top of the beach. Hotel at the end of the beach looks to be on its last... More

If on a cruise ship don't go to the popular beaches, go to Runaway Bay Beach. Beautiful sand and mild waves, lots of beach to walk, trees for shade, lounge chairs (newer plastic ones) and unbrellas for rent ($5 each), funky little restaurant, showers and changing rooms. You won't want to leave. Only a short taxi ride from town or... More

Unless you are staying nearby, there are much nicer beaches to visit. Long Bay, Half Moon or even Dickinson Bay just up the road. This one feels unkempt and sad. It is the closest spot for cruise ship passengers, and most of the positive recommendations seem to be coming from them. Do you want a 10-minute cab ride from St.... More
