We arrived fairly early in the morning. The group was soon surrounded by ring tailed lemurs that, although they were wild, seemed unperturbed by our presence.

This is a small community run reserve and the entrance fee goes directly to the community. We saw quite a lot of ring tailed lemurs up close and it was great being able to watch them interact with each other.

The Anja Reserve is a small community-based initiative about 12kms south of the town of Ambalavao, just off the main highway. Here, they protect and manage an area of forest, which also happens to contain several groups of ring-tailed lemurs. It is an ideal place to see them!
