The cooking class was interesting - the food was great but Heinz was great at putting people down - by the end of the class no one wanted to answer any questions or ask for fear of being put down - I get your the expert, but constantly making fun of peoples responses became a bit tedious by the end... I did enjoy the cooking class, however, would have loved to really cook. I like to be more "hands on". Heinz, the owner of the cooking school, has a lot of knowledge which he is happy to share, sometimes its the "Swiss approach" and you get overruled with everything and his way is the way it got to be -... The cooking class was recommended to us by our driver/guide whilst we were in Bali & so I did it. It was really an amazingly cultural experience and fascinating to learn all the varying techniques both new & old that the Swiss Head Chef Heinz owner taught us. The food was really beautiful and very realistic to replicate the recipes... More

What an amazing cooking class. Bumbu is the best cooking class I have done in Bali. It was interactive, educational and most importantly , fun. The class is perfect for any age and offers you a great insight into the Balinese cuisine. Heinz was a great host and an incredible chef. This should be at the top of your list... More

Don't leave Bali without experiencing this event! It is so much more than a "cooking class". We started at 6:00AM with the trip to the market. Heinz explains so much about the culture, the food, the values, of the Balinese people. He knows the market vendors and we felt very comfortable going around the market with him. He would stop... I booked on line, reservation was easy , pickup from my hotel on time. I had the most wonderful day starting at the school, going to the morning market, fish market and back to the school to learn to cook. Wonderful setup, entertaining and engaging staff. Great teacher. We produced some wonderful dishes and learnt blending and mixing spices. We made... More

We emailed to make our reservations, they've kindly organised pick up and drop off transport from our hotel near Nusa Dua. The driver was on time, the ambience of the restaurant was good, with dance and music performance starting from 730. The food presentation and taste was good. We enjoyed it.

We dropped in here for lunch and were delighted with the atmosphere, the staff & menu. We had grilled prawns, prawn curry, veg curry & shredded chicken salad which came with a few sides. We spent about AUD $50 per person (half of which was cocktails) and could hardly finish all the food. The staff were so accommodating, played with... More

The single most wonderful experience of our 3 week vacation. The trip to the market was very informative. Heinz is extremely knowledgable, not only about cooking methods but also about the local ingredients and the impact on the environment. This is a must do if you are here. As a matter of fact I can say that it is worth... More
