This experience was entirely misrepresented to us as "turtle conservation farm". I was in tears seeing how the animals were flailing about in distress while being man-handled by both by tourists who wanted their photos taken, and even worse the animal handlers who obviously had no training and or didn't care about the welfare of the animals. The worst part... More

It was our only bad experience in bali. The glass bottom boat and "turtle island" is an absolute rip off and the conditions the keep the animals in are awful. Usually we research activities on here but our taxi driver just arrived at this place and we went along with it. Even our guide told us "this is bull**** island"..... More

Like others I wish I'd read other reviews. This is how our experience went It's not an island Taken to essentially a cafe with gift shop with animals by the boatman from up the beach Guilt money taken straight away at 1USD per person - for the animals you understand not for the guide - a donation to look after... After 20 years of travel this is the worst tour I have ever undertaken. I took my 4 kids thinking they would get a nice boat ride, trip to an island and an interesting wild life experience and all we got was our wallet fleeced. Do not ever go here. For the price we paid we could have built a... More

we got picked up from our hotel and got taken to larger air con coach from where we went to join our boat for the day...we had a great sail looking at the sights on the way to the mud baths and spa baths, where indulged in covering ourselves with mud before showering and swimming in the hot spa springs...very... not really a sanctuary - rather a tourist trap.. it was nice for the kids to see and touch the turtles, but there were too many people and the tanks where turtles are kept are not sufficient.

The trip to the island, which is not an island, in a glass bottom boat was a con. Boat after boat were heading to the island. The noise and disturbance made by the boats is unbelievable. No wonder you can't see any fish. On the 'island', the 'sanctuary' is sparse and conditions for the animals primitive. Keeping turtles in tiled... More

And the other animals caged up... The turtles were forced out if the water for photos and it made me a but sad. The lone monkey looks sad as well... Apart from the fact that he got hold of and broke my sunglasses! I hope that it gave him a bit of entertainment! The staff are quite funny - but... More

When in Tanjung Benoa Bali you will frequently be asked by beach boys if you would like to go to turtle island. First up IT IS NOT AN ISLAND. What they do is charge you about £10 for the trip.this is done by boat and all they do is take you out to the reef for about 5 minutes in... More

I visted the island today on holiday and was absolutely shocked about how the animals are kept in tiny crowded cages. They have snakes in a box with their mouth sellotaped together, being chucked to one person to the other. It was heart breaking to see all other animals alone in tiny cages with no water and hardly any food.... More
