I just spent a week in turtle conservation refuge in sukamade, banyuwangi where is famous for sea turtle nesting. I patrolled night and early morning, plants the eggs in the hatchery, monitor the progress and release the hatchlings into the oceabs. It was hard work. To come here thenafter and see the living conditions of the sea turtles and how... More

The name of the island suggested that it should be "An island with considerable amount of turtle inhabited on" and my expectation was to observe and see turtles in their natural habitat. NO! Despite having to pay 30 USD PER HEAD to rent the boat just to transfer you over there (In certain parts of Malaysia, 10 usd is enough... More

Thought we would find out lots of info regarding the conversation of the turtles and that we would see them in a natural environment, this was not the case. Many tourists from other countries, who obviously were uneducated about turtles poked at them and shrieked, appearing to be frightened of these beautiful gentle creatures, such a shame. The turtles are... More

I visited this place under the assumption that I was going to see turtles in a natural safe environment. Possibly have my questions answered about the endangerment of the turtles, their value in Balinese tradition, and what can be done to increase dwindling numbers. I was dead wrong. Upon entry we were asked to pay 10 000 rupiah to contribute... More

Do not give these people your money. They need to learn this is not the way to earn a living. It is cruel, barbaric and should not continue to operate.

I felt saddened and disgusted in my fellow human beings after visiting this destination. I asked lots of questions about the 'conservation' efforts of this business but the answers provided by our 'guide' left me feeling angry. Watching hordes of excited holiday makers from all over the world screeching with delight as they yanked these beautiful creatures out of their... More

the fisherman rushed me to leave the turtle island, he said the time limit for me to visit should be one hour including boat transfer. In the middle of the sea, we couldn't see the fishes and coral clearly from the glass bottom boat because the water is dirty. The activities in the turtle island are not bad. The cockfighting... This is hands down the worst place I have ever visited in the entire world!! It's has no conservation value and literally made me cry and feel sick!!! The turtles are heaped into tiny enclosures, poked, prodded and help up by there fins!!! Imagine being 80+ kilos and being hing by your fingers!!! I hope this place is shut down... More

My wife and I visited this place by mistake, we had intended to go to the TURTLE EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION CENTRE but our taxi driver brought us here instead. After a boat ride to the centre we were welcomed and told that our entrance fee would support conservation. We were given a guided tour and were constantly invited to handle... More

We took a boat to title island and its a wonderful place. We could touch and hold the sea turtles and they obviously take good care of the turtles and contributes to their preservation and releasing back to the ocean. We had also an amazing grilled fish for lunch there!
