We had a wonderful overnight stay at Cobbold Gorge. It's a 6hour drive from Cairns or Townsville and the last hour and half driving was on an unsealed road with some river crossings. (Make sure you have insurance for windscreens as we cracked our windscreen in 3 places and had to have it replaced.) It's wise to book accommodation in... More

Cobbold was somewhere on our list for while and we're so glad we finally made it. A lovely slice of the outback with top notch facilities and unpretentious comfort. The gorge tour is well worth the time and investment - a great mix of human and natural history with a knowledgable and friendly guide. The eroded sandstone formations at the... More

We stayed a cobbold about a month ago and loved it! It is a place you would almost miss, we were recommended it by some other travelers we ment along the way and are so glad we stopped there. I would recommend calling before you drive in there as it is quiet a long way and it can get very... More

This is a very special place in the outback. As you drive in along a good gravel road and round the corner to be greeted by a "Welcome to Cobbold Gorge" then you get a view of the swimming pool and bar area. WOW! We camped in the camping area for 4 days. peaceful to say the least. The amenities... More

I highly recommend Cobbold Gorge for those who seek relaxation and comfort. Customer service was excellent. The food was outstanding especially the Gorgeous Beef Burger. Their swimming was amazing. Cobbold Gorge defiantly exceeded my expectations.

Cobbold gorge is a combination of tour operations and accommodation/Restaurant on a working Queensland Cattle Station. We stayed for one night in a motel style cabin - with very basic kitchen facilities. We found the accom clean, modern and well maintained, Quite a pleasant surprise. Our minor issues were the lack of block out blinds. Frosted glass gave privacy but... More

Having been to Cobbold Gorge back in the late 1990's, I was absolutely amazed at what has been achieved out there over the last decade or so. The gorge of course is as stunning as ever, but the new boats & addition of the boardwalk & boarding pontoon made the experience even better. The real change is in the facilities:... More
