We did not hike the trails. We drove and stopped for pictures 3 times on the road. The views from the road are amazing. We almost didn't go in because there is nothing impressive at the entrance of the park. Once you drive up the canyon and around the bend. Wow! We did this on the way home after a... More

More beautiful Zion roads! Different landscape than the southern part of the park. Great train at the end.

On Jan. 15, we were on our way through Cedar City on our way to Las Vegas. After four days visiting Zion (south), Bryce Canyou, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches National Parks, we enjoyed the interlude in our day's drive. Turned out to be much more that a mere interlude. We enjoyed the very scenic road that traverses the western... More

Our road trip in June of this year brought us past the northern entrance to Zion National Park, Kolab Canyon Road. It's a quick drive that affords some marvelous views and few people. In fact, we were the only two on the road. It was great to beat the crowds and appreciate this section if the park in solitude.

was literally all alone on road which winds through spectacular red rock scenery with multiple overlooks that showcase a land sadly seen by too few, even though it is literally yards from the throngs speeding by at 80 mph on I-15... that is okay, I did not mind having it all to myself

This road is a bit hard to find, a humbly marked turn in the village of Virgin, but it is an easy drive as it rises through the high desert hills to the upper terrace part of the Zion NP, giving spectacular views all along. Then you are in the middle of the western part of the park, winding through... More

Kolob Canyon is right off the interstate, easy on and off and so worth the time. the scenic road is but 5 miles, but there are multiple overlooks to stop and explore and take photos.

The Kolob section of the Zion National Park is less spectacular and hence less known and less crowded that the main (southern) part, but is well worth a trip. Also, it is less hot.

Frazzled by the heat and crowds at Zion? Want not, if you are traveling on I-15, there is a part of Zion that you can visit that is uncrowded, cool and provides stunning views of Zion National Park. Kolob Canyon Road is located about 20 miles south of Cedar City and is in Zion National Park. There is a tiny... More

Driving south on I-15, returning to Las Vegas after touring Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef National Parks, on a whim we decided to check out the Kolob Canyons Road as we had a little extra time and we did not get the chance to visit this distant part of the park earlier. Wow! What a fortunate decision! The road climbs... More
