After several days of hiking Angels Landing, The Narrows, and many of the other trails in Zion, we chose to hike the East Rim Trail entering from the East Gate. Great views very few people and an awesome hike for a day or overnight.

The 10.6-mile East Rim Trail begins near the East Entrance of Zion National Park and follows an old logging road as it climbs (and climbs and climbs) up the sandstone ridge and into a forest of cedar and ponderosa pine. The East Rim Trail is one of the two main backpacking trails in the park. Starting at the east side, near the toll booth and ending in Zion Canyon makes for a pleasant 10 mile hike.
