the history of the cabins

To think that you can stay in a cabin that is 100 years old, --- - where the history of the park resides-- is quite moving!

The area was very clean and well kept. We stayed at the Skyland Resort. We had a beautiful room (rustic, but clean). The view of the valley from the deck, was a great place to watch a sunset.

The hotel is rustic but lots of rooms and cabins. We got a suite that had a fireplace. Comfortable beds, no tv. You don't need tv when you have such lovely scenery. The dining room was very good. Good staff overall.

Skyland is not your luxurious hotel, and if you are looking for that experience you should not be going to SNP :) But it is a great family place with beautiful rustic rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and the most amazing hotel room views you can find anywhere in VA I think.

Very nice banquet with unbeatable views of nature and the valley. Awesome in the snow this year. Staff very supportive of outdoor activities, prompt response to room needs.

Beautiful setting in need of a face lift! Food was average. Visited on a college football Saturday and bar did not open until 2:00 pm! Could not watch any games or enjoy a cocktail until after 2:00!

There is a good restaurant here and you can stop and enjoy the views. The lodge is fabulous, if you can get a room there!

A no frills rustic cabin-like feel. A patio with view to relax on. A peaceful wooded mountain setting. Just what I expected and what I got. I would stay at Skyland again. A bit pricey as with all National Park lodging but you are paying for location not luxury.

A super place to stretch your legs while on Skyline Drive. You can shop at the gift shop, grab a beer in the tap room, dine in the main room, or snag a quick coffee at the walk up café. The weekends can be quite packed, so if possible visit mid week to encounter smaller crowds.

On our family's recent visit to Shenandoah National Park we stopped at Skyland for lunch. The sit down restaurant opened at noon and the line of patrons was thirty deep by 11:45. As there are few restaurants in the park, be prepared for await if you arrive at 12:30. The menu is very limited with few healthy or gluten free... More
