We came to view the fall colors and enjoy the scenery. Lots of overlooks and places to stop , it's an easy drive and there's a visitor center along the way and a store for snack and drinks next to the Appalachian Trail.

The Skyland area was beautiful in mid-October. Some colors muted - some bright oranges, yellows red.

Simple, laid back cabins/lodge in a beautiful setting. Up in the mountains of the Shenandoah National Park. Basic, comfortable accommodations - no TV. Wonderful hiking, food in dining room very good. About 1.5 hours from D.C.

This is a poorly managed facility that should be inspected as the food is served lukewarm, dirty glasses, partially cleaned tables and service that is fair to poor. Overhead from neighboring table, no tip included, but I live on tips. Sad, sad, sad. The clientele of this place will gladly tip for good service and good food. Our experience is... More

I think the big meadows area is better than skyland area. I think there is much more to see and do at big meadows. The restaurant at skyland looked nice but was so crowded We opted to not stay. Will be back though at some other time to try.

We've stayed at the Winchester cabins at Skyland Resort for years and years. Beautiful views and comfortable cabins. Though need renovation, they're fairly clean and have (occasional) wifi. The fireplaces are under repair this year so don't expect to be able to have a fire in the fireplace. Quite a disappointment but understandable. The lodge has good - yet $$... More

There is nothing quite like a trip to the top of the mountain to view the leaves of Autumn. Staying in a cabin at Skyland on Skyline Drive is waking to God's brilliant canvas each morning. Take a hike or a drive just outside your door. Enjoy dinner in the dining hall with massive windows overlooking the ever changing view.

Lots of scenic stops! Relaxing drive. I suggest to come in Fall. The foliage will be more spectacular!
