We drove two third of the Skyline drive last week and it was pretty amazing. The road and nature is beautiful. Although it is not THE best road to drive in the world, it is a really beautiful one. But the wildlife was pretty amazing. I never saw this much deer and bears from this close. In total we saw... More

Driving Skyline Drive is one of my husband and I's favorite places. We've driven it in all sorts of weather and during every season. During the past five years we've seen black bears and deer, wild turkeys, a huge flock of ravens, turtles, and assorted smaller creatures. We've gazed at a myriad of wild flowers in the Spring and trees... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our hikes, stopping for lunch at Skyline restaurant and seeing the bears!

Went during a rainy day. Loved watching the clouds go over the mountains and driving through them. Went to Skyland and enjoyed a nice lunch with friends. Stop often as you can, and go on a day you know you will like the weather.

This drive was amazing. I think we spent like 4 hours driving about 50 miles, and that's without hiking at all. We stopped at a number of overlook points and took pictures. Even though it was raining, cloudy, and foggy, it was still incredibly beautiful. And as we drove through the forest, we saw a black bear climbing up a... More

This was our first time here and it definitely will not be our last. We only drove the half top of the park - from Front Royal to Big Meadows Lodge, at mile 52. It felt like we had to pull over every 5 minutes at each overlook for the first 20 miles because every single vista was so unbelievably... More

After a tour of Luray Caverns, still feeling adventurous, we took a 20 mile drive along Skyline Drive to the Meadows and back to the highway before heading home to Baltimore. Each scenic overlook was more breath taking than the next, and they were numerous. I stopped counting after a while. I was grateful the park was protected space as... More

We spent 3 days and nights at Big Meadows Lodge and traveled at our leisure up and down Skyline Drive. The views were spectacular and it was a relaxing and curvacious road! Although the Park and Skyline Drive afforded a spectacular time, I cannot say the same about DNC Parks & Resorts who run the gift shops. My husband purchased... More

Just beautiful. Glorious views and a winding road make this a favorite drive of ours. The only trouble is, we never seem to have enough time to get our fill of this wonderful part of Shenandoah.
