If you are not in a hurry to be anywhere, this would be a great drive. We were on our way home from visiting family and heard this is a must do, so we did the first half. We entered from Front Royal, which there is a fee of $15.00 also, keep in mind the speed limit is 35mph, slow,... More

This drive is divided into 3 segments, each taking a couple of hours to drive at a leisurely pace and make a few stops along the way. I have done the northern and southern most sections, and due to time constraints, I have not yet enjoyed the middle section. It is a beautiful trip if you are not in a... More

We drove from Front Royal the full length of this drive. There are 75 scenic overlooks en route, and the mandatory 35 m.p.h. speed limit forces you to relax and enjoy the scenery. We saw black bears in four separate places along the route. I think the best time to do this is when we did--starting at the North end... More

I guess if you are a big hiker this may be your cup of tea, if not I'm not sure it's worth the time. We saw absolutely no animals and while beautiful the views become fairly redundant pretty quickly. I love our national parks and have to say this is the first which let me down. If planning a trip... More

Although it was overcast on arrival by the time we drove, had lunch and rest breaks the sky's cleared somewhat and it was beautiful. The best money spent this trip, beautiful views and peace and quiet

On a recent cross-country trip, we figured we could take the interstate, or we could take a little more time and enjoy the scenery on Skyline Drive. If you simply drive from one end of Shenandoah National Park to the other (there are several entrances/exits, so you don't actually have to go end-to-end), it will take 2-3 hours to cover... More

Do you love nature? With Mountains and overlooks, it's the best $10 you can spend in the area. Drive the skyline then find a place to park and explore, you won't regret it!

Beautiful. We saw bear, deer, wild turkey, you name it. Have been coming for years, great walks from easy to challenging, amazing nature. Stay at Big Meadows and enjoy nature on your own terms.

Your $10 will be one of the best investments you have ever made. There may be higher, snowier and showier views. There may be roads through wilder country. There may be roads that take you to posh-er resorts. There may be roads with more trailheads. (No. Forget that. No way.). But no road anywhere delivers the delightful blend of the... More
