Nothing in the view was spectacular, but it was an altogether... More

I have been there in different seasons, and in different times of the day. It has never disappointed me. But if you are to choose the best time to visit Skyline drive, I would recommend Fall, that is October, when you can enjoy the beauty of the fall color.

We were visiting relatives in Stephen's city and thought it would be nice to take a scenic ride. We decided to go into Shenandoah National park, where you can ride on Skyline drive for 109 miles to southeran Virginia. However 8 miles in we were in the midddle of horrible rain so there was not much of view for us.... More

The toll may be a little daunting ($15 for private vehicles), but it's worth it. I was astounded by the views and how well the roads were cared for (I guess the toll $ went to good use). We stopped by Byrd Visitor Center and learned about the men who designed and built the roadways and paths during the Depression.... More

This is an amazing road, the views are so vast, you can see for miles away...Once there you understand why John Denver was inspirted by the mountains in Virginia. Be sure to stop at the various overlooks to view Shenandoah Valley. The views are spectacular. There are also a couple carved out tunnels to go thru as well. There is... More
