We were about to skip this route but some local people did highly recommend it, so we finally decided to drive it. That was a very good decision, especially we have a convertible car! Pity that we didn't have more time to spend there!

Beautiful drive along canyon! Little scary in spots...could not look down. We drove all the way to the end to hike the Mist Trail.

Gorgeous drive, between canyons, forestry, and amazing views of the river it doesn't disappoint. There are a few lodges along the way that are worth a stop but the drive along the river is really what it's all about.

I have to agree with my other family members as we vacationed in central & southern Cali this summer. This byway between the two sections of King's Canyon is one of the most scenic we've ever driven. Collectively, we took more photos along this winding road on our drive than we did within the two official park boundaries combined. If... More

This was a highlight of our trip. Much to see along this route! Would go again in a minute! The route runs along the river for much of it. There are many scenic overlooks. You will not regret this section of the park. I would allow a whole day for the upper section of Kings Canyon Park.

We spent the day driving the canyon. It was completely worth the drive. Beautiful scenery the entire way. We stopped for ice cream at a little place towards the bottom of the canyon, but the service was terrible, and I wouldn't do that again.

After entering the gate at Kings Canyon National Park, we spent 3 1/2 hours driving and stopping along the scenic byway all the way to the Cedar Grove area at the end of the road. Near the entrance, we stopped at the Grant Grove visitor center and the General Grant Tree trail. Further down the road, we stopped at Boyden... More

This is one great drive. There is a great gain and drop in elevation and the side of the canyon is deep in places. But the views are just breathtaking and amazing in this portion of Kings Canyon. It's a good thing there are quite a few turn-outs so you can stop and enjoy the view and do your selfies.

Amazing views. Windy roads with steep sides. Take care if easily sickened in a car but worth it. Lots of turn-outs for picture taking.
