We totally had an awesome ride to Cedar Grove Village and back: steep ascents & descents, hairpin turns, and breathtaking views all along the way! What made it even better was that we had the road to ourselves…Sweet! If you take this drive during peak season, you may get stuck behind a bunch of timid drivers. If you don’t mind... More

Hairpin turns, incredible vistas, relative seclusion--this road has it all. Driving enthusiasts will love it. We didn't even have to step out of the car to experience nature. A large male black bear crossed right in front of us near the meadow. If you're driving straight through from Grant Grove to Roads End, expect the 30 miles to take about... More

Despite being in the park at the height of tourist season, there were far fewer cars on this road than expected. But at the end of the road, there was a parking lot filled to capacity, so if you're planning to camp here, you should reserve. The view is nice, but not awesome like other parts of the Sierras. I... The rangers told me that only about one out of five visitors bothers to take the highway thru the canyon. That is a real shame as it has scenery that far outshines the rest of the park

We really enjoyed the drive to and through Kings Canyon. It is breathe-taking and views that you will always remember. The drive entails twisty road and steep decents for most of the ride. Make sure you have a full tank of gas before entering the (any) National Park. While we did see a gas station, the gas is extremely expensive,... More

The road was well maintained. I do not like heights and was a little scared when we were on the outside lane. The scenery was incredible.

We enjoyed the views along the way to the end of the road. Stopped several time to take photos and just enjoy. We picked up a few snacks it the area where they have the cave tours - very expensive, but if you needed something, it was there.

This road offers incredible views down into the canyon on the way in, and awe-inspiring views from the canyon floor once you get there. Just have a full tank of gas before you begin! There is one place along the way that sells gas, but they charge $6 a gallon!

This road is amazing and offers some beautiful views. There are several overlooks that provide a panoramic view of this rugged canyon. The road is curvy and has a change in altitude as it eventually follows the river in the canyon. Beautiful and vast area.

This is a very scenic, though very windy trail down into Kings Canyon and Roads End. A number of pull offs give you great views. We have been twice and unfortunately most of the yucca plants near the road had already bloomed. they dot the mtn sides and canyon. We had a mother and two cubs trot across the road... More
