Kings Canyon

We visited in late April so the road was relatively quiet which allowed plenty of stopping for photos. It is a beautiful river canyon.

This is a truly spectacular road clinging to the mountains side. And the valley in the end is just pure beauty! If in the area, I recommend you find the time to do this drive, you will not regret it! Be sure to fuel up before you start, as there are no fuel(or anything else) for sale in the canyon,... More

Depending on the time of year that you head up to Kings Canyon NP, you may be treated to different, but always spectacular views of the mountains and valleys. We travelled up on January 30, 2016, just ahead of a major snowstorm that dumped 3 feet on the top on February 1. You can see the resulting cloud0-base in my... More

This was a great drive. One way in, one way out. Beautiful falls to see along the way, with a short walk.

This place was beautiful and the trees magnificent. You feel small and very unimportant here. It was winter and snow was all around when I went. I honestly cant wait to go back and do it again!!

Yes it is full of twists and the elevation change is huge but well worth the reward - spectacular views and the amazing sequoia groves.

We liked this byway better than anything inside of Yosemite. So sad for California to be in such a drought condition. It didn't make for very pretty scenery. I would visit both parks however, they both have different things to offer.

This is one of the best scenic byways we have visited. After passing Boyden Cavern, things are getting more interesting after every turns. There is Kings River running along the byway with little falls here and there. There are walls of beautiful marble that you would wish to be able to bring home to build your house :P The mountains... Not for those of you that get car sick easily. Very twisty road - but nice to see the waterall at the end!

What a beutifukl drive!! The day we were here there were storm clouds on the horizon, and we did get a little bit of rain. We stopped at Grizzly Falls, which was beautiful, to take lots of photos. While there, we could hear the thunder from across the ridge. We decided it was best to head out of the canyon... More
