White knuckle drive but worth it

Twists and tight turns but amazing beauty everywhere you looked. One of the prettiest places I have ever seen and I travel a lot.

We had one day to visit the parks while staying with family in Fresno, CA. So we drove first to the entrance near the General Grant tree, had a nice lunch, walked to the tree and then drove the highway to General Sherman's tree. There is construction going on - but we were pretty lucky and got to the Sherman... More

This is a magnificent ride...coasting, rising higher and higher, turning and twisting up, up, up. Along the way, nature treats you to a most marvelously majestic view of her finest! It's simple beauty.

This drive starts in the foothills, creeps its way up along the river and then ends up right in the midst of the large Sequoia trees. Perhaps my favorite part of the drive was the change in biomes as you climb up in elevation. The only problem with this drive is there are so many places worth stopping at that... More

Have patience with others as it's worth it to see the gorgeous scenery! Wonderful drive through mountains, very curvy with new views around each turn!

Try to take it relatively slowly driving on the Generals Highway--but don't hold up other traffic. Pull over and enjoy. The road goes through Sequoia and Kings Canyon with pull outs for some of the most spectacular views you can imagine. The road is well paved and easy to navigate.

What an introduction to the big Sequoias! Travel this highway north and south to see General "Tall" Sherman and General "Girth" Grant. Be sure to drive through one of these great Sequoias.

Although it takes quite some time to get from entrance to General Sherman, the drive is cool with a few places to stop for the "vistas", the scenery changes quite a bit on the way up to about 7000 ft.

We spent a day driving, hiking, and taking photos. We sandwiched this drive between two big hiking days. Every turn gave another stunning view. Lots of wild flowers. There were several places to stop and see waterfalls and take short hikes. In May, there were very few people so we could linger and drive slowly to enjoy the ride. Beautiful... More

I was a bit nervous before going on the Generals Highway and was worried about falling off from a cliff or something. I had my boyfriend drive and it honestly wasn't as bad as I had feared. Sure, there are lots of turns and you get pretty high up before you reach any of the campgrounds, but it was totally... More
