This is off the beaten path. It is not to hard and very quiet. Stroll through meadows and trees. Did I say it is quiet, I loved it.

We live nearby and like Upper Beaver Meadows area for a nearby, less crowded hike. Makes a nice late spring walk when the snow is still deep higher up and fall during the elk rut. There are lots of unmarked trails in the area; nice for exploring. Two places most people don't know about or access: there is an elk... More

We walked this trail the last week of October. It was cold but not freezing. This is a fairly easy trail that is loaded with wildlife tracks. We like trails like this one that go first up instead of down because the return trip is easier. Elk, deer, and a few moose tracks, plus some I could not identify were all... More

August, Saturday, great weather - we knew the trails were going to be crowded. We picked this 5 mile hike (loop) hoping it would be less so. We were right ! The turn off is hard to see so keep your eyes open (it's a small road just past Bear Lake Road) we were able to park without issue at... More

The Upper Beaver Meadows Trailhead is a nice trail and provides lovely views of the mountains and sometimes wildlife. Pack a picnic lunch with plenty of water in your backpack and enjoy as little or as much of the hike as you like! It's not a difficult trail, but it'll be enjoyable and pleasant. Take time to enjoy the beauty... More

This trail walk is under estimated on its Beaty and tranquility. There is roadside parking. A stroll through here will have you relaxed as you can look all around without being too concerned about your footing because more than half is semi paved. This is a great place to toss a blanket on the ground and have a picnic, just... More

We began a hike here since it looked like it could be an easy, short hike and it ended up turning into a half-day 12+ mile hike! The beginning is pretty much just an open field but it ended up connecting us to Morraine Park, Cub Lake, and Fern Lake. The terrain varied so much throughout the entire hike and... More

We always see wildlife here, especially if you hike for a while then find a place to sit still and just wait and watch. We've seen elk, deer, a family of wild turkeys nearly every visit.
