Sol Duc Falls are spectacular! One of the best waterfalls in the Olympic National Park and a must see for waterfall and nature lovers. It is a fairly short hike of just .8 one way and very little elevation change. Also make sure to save time to stop at the Salmon Cascade area on the way up.

Next to Hoh Rainforest and Cannon Beach Oregon this is one my favourite places in North America. This is quintessential Pacific Northwest...stunningly green, towering old growth forests dripping with moss, stormy skies, nurse logs, giant ferns, a seemingly ever-present light rain, and waterfalls...one in particular..Sol Duc. After a decent walk (a least a couple of miles I think) through beautiful... More

The drive to the trails is about 14 miles off of Hwy 101. The trail itself is fairly easy, 0.8 one way with just a few inclines. Along the trails are tall, old growth trees, which to me were just as beautiful as the falls. Be sure to enjoy the cool, damp forest as you walk. There is lots to... More

The falls were beautiful. The hike was not very strenuous. You do have a couple of inclines but if I can make the walk, most everyone else can do so.

This is a very cramped, & crowded area with cheap little cabins & families running amuck everywhere. There is one large pool, & two very small pools, that look like baby pools. Not appealing at all....seemed rather white trashy to us.

The hike to Sol Duc Falls was fairly easy. It is about a mile hike to the falls on a well-traveled trail. There were some hills and steps but nothing too steep. There is beautiful scenery along the entire hike including another great waterfall about a quarter mile into the hike. Make sure to keep going after this point. When... More

Just don't stay at the lodge. Great hike. A wonderful place either the short trail or the longer loop through the campground, also take the Ancient Grove short loop along the drive up.

The Falls are just one of the beautiful things to see at Sol Duc Falls. Make sure to save time to stop at the Salmon Falls on the way up - we saw a salmon trying to forge the falls. Once at the trailhead parking, make sure to keep your eyes open on the way to the falls. The trail... More

Only about a 1/4 mile fairly level walk to another of the spectacular waterfalls that we have seen. Big beautiful forest. Nurse logs, mosses etc. If you are looking for 600 ft waterfalls go to the gorge. if you want to just enjoy what is at the end then come with an open mind and an empty camera disk and... More

It's just under a mile hike through the temperate rainforest to the waterfall. Both the hike and the waterfall are nice enough, but I felt they didn't stand out compared to other waterfalls in the northwest (for example I think the ones around the Columbia Gorge area, and on Vancouver island are better). Given that it has it's own entrance... More
